Finally got to listen to it. I love it. I hope that's how the whole album starts. So great to hear some new music from then. :D

Yeah, if it starts like that and EXPLODES into something awesome!! That would be cool. Or it would just sound like 'Minority' :/

Not that it matters, but I disagree with you completely. You cant tell how an album will sound from two notes.

and have green day ever let you down before? Have some freaking faith in our boys wouldya?

Uh, Boulevard of Broken Dreams was pretty disappointing, in my opinion. That was a let down. Leave the power ballads to hoobastank, nickelback, or some other trite band like that.

It's mercy, compassion, and forgiveness I lack. Not faith.

A little kill bill reference anyone?

Ah, I don't care what they sound like.

I'm just glad GREEN DAY is finally back.

Not PHGP, not FHT, not The Network.

GREEN DAY.

I missed the boys, I really did.

You're scared because this album could potentially suck out loud. You're scared because we'd have to wait years and years for anything more, if at all better.

You're scared that Green Day's next album would confirm that they've become mainstream posers/sellouts.

We're all worried. Except the teenies. They will suck green day's creativity dry, and then move on to the next crappy popstar that suddenly gets airplay at the Hollister store.

it has to be said, this is a lot of speculation coming from what is no more than four bars on loop. with two chords. and or three notes played behind it.

anyone could've done that; it gives nothing away about the record in my opinion. it's just a loop. stop being delusional, haha.

i don't mean that in a mean 'i'm trying to be cool' kind of way, i'm just saying. come on. it's nothing. chill. if anyone had posted that here and said "hey look i recorded something, what do you think?", would you really tell them it was "the music of your dreams?" i think not.

I feel the same. The FHT album we got was amazing and all, but it wasn't Green Day. I'm glad they're finally back as themselves.

I'm not worried at all about what it'll sound like. There isn't one album of theirs that I bought and said "What the crap is this stuff?" I'm sure the album will be fine, whether it's AMAZING, just as good as American Idiot, or more Warning-esque.

It was good, but I wouldn't say AMAZING. Insomniac, now that was amazing.

no im not scared because of that. im scared because im selfish!

because i like being the only GD fan in my area. i dont want anyone else where i am to be a fan. they dont deserve it!

thats why im so fond of side projects.

it makes me feel threatened. i have to go around defending myself (and the band) just like i had to 3 years ago.

i've never had to experience something new, just always backtracking albums.

and i dont care if the album's a flop, green day's green day. i get used to any of their albums as long as the voices sound the same.

True true. But I was sort of disappointed by AI in the long run, so I'm just hoping the fling with U2 hasn't 'corrupted' their mainstream sound.

FHT's was a one-off that didn't need to please anyone, and thus, it was far more playful and less trite than AI was (at times). But bitch gotta eat, which means that this album could potentially suck.

I'll wait to pass judgement.

Green Day's like crack: With each hit (album) the high gets less and less, and it looses its freshness, its newness. But damnit, you still need that fix.

I didn't mean literally amazing. I meant, it was awesome we got that in between AI and now the new album instead of hearing absolutely zero music from them since American Idiot..

I feel the same way. It's immature, and I know Green Day are a HUGE commerical band, but the idea of people who used to pick on me for liking punk rock music getting into my favourite band just pisses me off.

On the other hand, nothing wrong with spreading the love! Just depends how you look at it I guess.

I agree. I didn't wait in line for 12 hours for FHT's to become one of the crowd. I'm more important than that. More devoted, more deserving. As are you.

Wow, I totally predict this will somehow come to bite us in the ass in the future.

I still don't think there's any way you can judge the album by this clip alone. It'd be like trying to judge AI just by the first few seconds of Homecoming of Letterbomb, or something

The first few seconds of letterbomb are awesome, so that's a bad example. Homecoming....well, meh. :ermm:

Something else I feel the same about. I'm still a new Green Day fan, I'm one of those American Idiot fans, so this is my first time experiencing the "waiting" feeling. Wondering if it's going to be good. It's even weirder I think if you're an American Idiot fan, because you're so used to everyone liking it, and now there's potential for it to be a disaster.

I see where you're coming from, totally. I mean, American Idiot is (at times) my favourite record so I can't say I totally agree, but I do see what you mean.

I think something to remember here is that when Green Day signed to Reprise, everyone said they'd go all soft and tacky. As it turned out, they made a record that sounds way more 'punk' than anything they'd done before. Track 2 is in the head of a suicide bomber, track 4 is about masturbating, and the last track is called "Fuck Off and Die."

Then, when everyone decided Green Day were bratty punk kids, they made Nimrod, with a surf rock track, an acoustic ballad and a load of gorgeous sounding lead guitar licks.

Then, after Warning, when everyone assumed they'd calmed down, they waited four years then made a political 'punk rock opera' with two nine minute tracks and a character called "Jesus of Suburbia."

Then they made a side project garage rock n roll band.

What I'm saying is, a commerical American Idiot 2 would be WAY too obvious. It's just not gonna happen; they know the game, and they're too smart for that.

Plus they've been listening to Springsteen a lot, so come on, it's gonna be awesome!

Also, you now feel like a true green day fan, not just some teenie with a meek interest. You feel threatened by the idea of Green Day really sucking and being embraced by the dumbshit masses.

You literally are the "true" green day fans of 4 years ago who were all pissed off about AI, and the fans they labeled as "teenies"

As long as their not taking inspiration from his song "Pink Cadillac" I'll be happy. That song majorly blows.
