I don't think things like music (and movies) are affected by the financial crisis. people still want to be entertained although they might have less money than usually.

I don't think Green Day will be affected..they're too popular, people will go anyway even if it's a tough time economically.

nah. People buy music anyway, and I think this financial crisis makes people to buy more, although we may don't see it in the numbers of sold albums. Music helps people to get through everything, and so it does with this crisis.

I'm sure people appreciate GD enough to stick their hands in their pockets and buy cds etc.As for tours, people still want to go see their favourites artists, I know a girl who is going to see at least 3 bands this year. You still want music, it makes you feel better, nothing beats sitting in my room listening to loud music when I'm angry/sad/whatever mood.

The credit crunch isn't all doom and gloom, there is light at the end of the tunnel.

So you're paying for all your tickets yourself then?

The credit crunch is hitting people hard, jobs are being lost, homes too, lives are being disrupted and as much as I love this band they are not the be all and end all of life.

it could happen. dont know if they will go as far as cancelling events but it could force them into playing smaller venues. that said, it wouldn't surprise me if it was left unaffected. its a hard call really. i guess it depends how much people value the chance to go and see them

Nothing's impossible. However, I don't think the financial crisis could affect Green Day. They're a way too good and popular band.

That's unfortunately true, but at the same time, not everyone will be badly affected by it. There will always be many people who are still well off enough to afford these things whatever the state of the economy is, and there will always be enough of those people to fill up a gig by a mainstream band.

I don't think the credit crunch will affect my seeing Green Day, simply because it would be a huge expense to me anyway, crunch or no crunch! But it's a shame that people will miss out or have to scale back their plans because of it. I know there's far worse things to worry about right now, but it's still a shame.

Glad to see all the positive comments on this. Its certainly helped convince me, particularly how people still want their 'escape' and that smaller bands will probably suffer more in these times.

Hopefully Green Day can help lead the revival!

No, I can't afford, the tickets myself. My parents say I need to save my money to go to uni.

You can't escape this credit crunch, I know that. It's in every newspaper, and it hits home too. I know times are hard and shit, my dad practically lost his job too. But I don't see how paying maybe £30 or whatever is going to leave you without a home. I mean, there's still time to save up if it's that bad.

But a little optism won't hurt anyone. Be cautious about what you spend, and you'll be find, keep on top of your payments(I know is easier said than done) and you'll be fine, I understand it's stressful, but there is light at the end of the tunnel.

I don't think the Economy is going to affect them at all aside from probably being paid less. Usually for concerts, the bands tend to get 55-60% of the money that was made from selling tickets, etc, and the rest goes to whatever venue they were playing at. The only problem would be funding the tour with equipment and crew members and etc, but Green Day have a lot of money so I doubt it's going to take much of a toll on them.

when that rumour started they hadnt even booked any dates for Australia. cant cancel a tour that hadnt been booked.

before a band announces a tour, they must have the places booked.

so just cuz we didnt know about it, doesnt mean it wasnt in the works.

I wouldn't be surprised if this tour didn't start until next year.

Same. It looks like the album will come out around May. They will probably play at some festivals and then start touring maybe end of 09 going into 2010.

Who knows. I suck at speculating.

The longer I have to wait the more impatient I'm getting. But you know, nothing we can really do about it.
