greendaytone
A few questions occurred to me given the current state of the world economy...Would Warner Bro's want to hold back on a big act like Green Day so not to lose out on sales/profits in the current situation?Could tour plans be reduced/scrapped given that not as many people can afford it in this climate?I know thats pretty gloomy and i hope its not the case, but realistically Green Day can be affected as much as anything else right now. What do you guy's think?

Rezurgam
No, look at video game sales and movie ticket sales. They have been pretty strong. People are looking for almost a sort of "escape" like how they did in the Great Depression.

Boston
They won't hold back on a Green Day tour. They'd probably rather cut down on a smaller band that people with tighter purse strings will skip.
karma1215
No . People will find alternative ways to make it work and so will Green Day. They always lowered their ticket prices to accomodate the public.
Joey
The financial situation will only affect the bands who cannot afford to tour, and who live on the line between profit and loss. Touring is easy money for big bands (not big bands as in Glenn Miller).Green Day made over $30 million from touring in 2005 (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/4528682.stm) so if anyone were to make really good money from a tour during a financial crisis, it is Green Day, even if they only raked in 75% of the 05 figure. If the new album sells a bundle then I'd expect a tour equally as large as the one that supported American Idiot. It's like Microsoft not selling Windows 7 because fewer people will buy it. It wont cost much to put out there compared to what they can rake in.

netty
labels would do that any way. would the guys views on golbal warming have any influence on the size or way the tour is run? its a question that has come up before.

Most celebrities are all talk and light-to-nil action. Green Day doesn't seem to different on the issue.

farley drexel hatcher
Making any tour 'green' is hard, much harder than you'd think. That's why I think they chose to do the NRDC thing when they weren't touring. They haven't done anything for it in a quite some time. That said I do see them cutting back on the amount of pryo and fireworks and stuff, or at least making the shows as different to the AI ones as they can. And to be honest I don't think the economy is really going to effect the tour much. Maybe in certain places ticket prices might have to be made a bit higher, but I doubt it. Guest TwoDollarMellie
I heard that the Australian tour was cancelled (or shortened, I forgot).I have a strange feeling maybe the tour will be shorter than the AI tour.Or maybe ticket prices will be cheaper/more expensive. Ila Reto
i too have heard of Warner forcing them to scrap the Aussie stops on the tour, and some people have been asking about it and i have nothing to tell them, honestly. im pissed at warner and their affiliates for multiple reasons, and i would not be suprised if they would pull a stunt like this. However, even back '95 the band's been looking out for fans on the tour by cutting ticket prices, perhaps they will have enough power to continue their tour into Australia. woven_basketcase
It probably won't with a big band like Green Day because they know they can pull in the audiences. They might cut back a little bit, but nothing big.
Laurie L
Oh God. I hadn't heard anything about them canceling the Australian leg of the tour. I haven't even seen them live yet. If they cancel, I'm going to be soo upset

Nova-Caine
It might not affect them being able to do the tour they want but it might affect people going. A year ago I had planned to take in the whole UK tour, to follow them, even do maybe Ireland and one in the states now though things have changed. My job is going, I am moving home and will be lucky to make one or two shows.

Hermione
green day is above god. they are not effected by mortal things such 'recession' Exactly!Green Day are rolling in it, and their record company knows for a fact the tour will be extremely successful and pull in the money. Whatever slight difference the world's economy problems could have on them, it's not gonna be enough to affect their tour. Smaller bands must be running into big problems right now, but huge bands won't.
