Alright I'll be honest, I've only been to Tacoma a couple of times. To be exact to the Tacoma Dome

there's a lot of good house shows there and hell's kitchen always has some good bands playing.

did you see green day at the dome in '05?

that was the first time i've been to the tacoma dome since i saw beauty and the beast on ice there when i was just a youngin'.

Nice article. The only thing is Mike never really talks about his religion in detail but trims around the edges, so he won't make anyone mad.

No I didn't get in to Green Day until '06. So I misses that show :(

^uh no. I don't think he gives two shits about making anyone mad.

I so agree :D

It would be nice if somebody can post what Green Day said (excuse me if I missed it in this post if it was posted) but I think we already know a little bit of what Green Day thinks of religion (or an element of it), is Christianity from AP Issue #246.

Pg. 088, paragraph five:

"The pastor said something to the extend of, 'Don't have opinion, because you're not being godly," Armstrong remmembers, shaking his head. "And you're like, 'Holyshit - Don't have opinions?' But none of those people had any doubts: They were willing to give themselves over on blind faith to the idea that this person was going to come out and be the solution to all their problems, and that this was somehow exclusive to a certain amount of people."

That expresses a bit of what Billie Joe and the band feels, that religion shouldn't be used as a "fix-all," solution.

Also, there is this that is from the AP Magazine:

"I think that religion is responsible for probably 90 percent of the problems the world is faced with right now..." - Billie Joe.

So I hope that helps a little, I know a lot of people have probably already read this, but I thought I'd just stick it out there just incase.

Two things I've learnt from this thread:

Green Day have opinions on religion. We just don't know what they are.

Somewhere called Tacoma smells funny.

Lol that interview was amusing, Mike is a legend.

I found this article ---an old one but entertaining none the less :

 Cheers for that, never seen it before.

I don't think we really know much about what anyone in Green Day thinks about religion so far, apart from the odd very vague or sometimes semi-serious comment. It's pretty clear they're open minded but definitely view it with a healthy dose of scepticism, if those few comments and their lyrics are anything to go by.

It sounds like we're gonna hear a whole lot more of their thoughts with the new album, should be interesting
