My godz! Are people as ignorant to condemn the album before they even HEARD it? OF COURSE! Stupidity at work here. Do you seriously think Green Day are going to change their sound so much so that they won't sound like Green Day? Why do you think they didn't use the songs they made for their new record, and put it out with Foxboro Hot Tubs? BECAUSE THOSE WEREN'T GREEN DAY SONGS! They were having fun, and certainly couldn't use something with THAT sound for a GREEN DAY record. RELAX!

I saw The Maine and Metro Station live at the same show. I wouldn't put them in the same category. Metro Station is techno and The Maine isn't. At least that's how it was when I saw them a few months ago.

Power-pop almost makes me think of Avril Lavigne. I like Avril, so I don't mind that idea, but I'm sure others of you wouldn't like it.

The Maine have some songs that are power-poppy, but most are just pop/rock. They just generally don't play the power-poppy ones live, but on their CD, there's a couple. Not many though. Metro Station's songs are all power-poppy.

I think I'll decide the "power-pop" thing once I hear the album

Yeah... why judge before knowning anything? We probably didn't even hear at least one chord of it, but everybody starts discussing and prejudging. Wait, listen and then judge  And btw... I wouldn't take all these articles too serious. They're only bad remakes of the AP interview.

Idk. Powerpop- it is only a word. It is always difficult to label music, I guess and it is not necessary anyway. So let`s wait and see.

Btw, the only band I know, who labeled their music as power-pop, is Broadway Calls and they are pretty awesome.

yeah.

because i bet they'll sound EXACTLY like metro station.

uhh.. seriously?

no.

have you heard a tonality simularity between them?

no.

so quit being all pissy before you even listen to the album.

judge before hearing much?..

:ermm:

I fucking LOVE powerpop music!

Regardless, Green Day are going to sound exactly like... well, Green Day. No matter what genre Billie says they're leaning more towards, they're not going to drastically change their sound. And they sure as hell won't come out sounding like Metro Station  Musically I think the new record is going to be in the same vein as American Idiot.

Hah, All Time Low is really good actually..

Although it would be pretty odd to see them opening for Green Day :|

If you read the AP interview you would know that the entire album isn't being described as "power-pop".

I love Broadway Calls, their music's great :woot: But I don't think the new Green Day album will sound like Broadway Calls, cause they're more... hm I don't know how to say... their music is good, but not brilliant when you look the melodies and stuff... and Billie said the new album will be the best they've ever done, so I expect it to be better than a normal power-pop-punk-rock-whatever-album

Agreed. But it will be 10 times better than AI.

Oh totally! My first impression after reading the article was that they're looking to blow American Idiot out of the water. Seems like they're really going for it.
