Yea Picture Book sounds really like Warning. But who the fuck cares

Don't know if someone's mentioned this,

but I've always thought that Simple Plan's Your Love Is a Lie sounds a little bit like BOBD.

Verses, not the chorus.

I can't be bothered to listen for myself so i'll take everyone elses word that they sound the same, most of the foxboro hot tubs ones sound like other songs, Alligator especially, though i can't remember the title of the song it sounds like.

I don't think it matters whether they sound the same really as long as its good music!

Why would any one wanna sound like Sum 41?

Coz they kick ass?

Its "You really got me" by the Kinks

That downtown song, My Dad told me about 3 years ago that Billie was ripping it off when I was singing Waiting. I think It's more the Lyrics though.

'Cause Sum 41 is amazing.

I always mix up Michelle Branch's "Everywhere" with Jason Mraz's "The Remedy" because the intro to the song is damn near identical. But that doesn't mean they copy each other. I find it funny that people accuse each other of copying so often.

If you believe or not... I always thought Waiting sounds a little bit like Downtown...

"Dumbstruck

Colour me stupid

Good luck

You're gonna need it

Where I'm going if I get there..."

always reminded me of the chorus of Downtown, but I like it, cause for me, it's like a better version of that song.

but apart from that, I think it's just unavoidable that songs sound pretty similar sometimes as there are so many... I don't think Green Day "stole" melodies intentionally from other bands.

when I gt time later I'm gona make some more examples

FHT and the monkees

Yeah, 27th Ave. Shuffle sounds like a Monkees song. And the music for Sally is essentially the exact same for Steppin' Stone.

Since Friday when we posted up the news on GDA about the new songs, one of the top 5 sites pointing to GDA is a Sum41 site that talks about Green Day borrowing the title "March of the Dogs" off a Sum 41 song which was released in July 2007. But before them the title was used by Nine Inch Nails in a song they released in 1994. So either way it's not an original title. However, Green Day's version is explained as a "Religious rant" while the Sum 41 song was about the government (i believe). So that poo poo's that idea.

However, we've also heard from people saying Green Day ripped off Wonderwall's music for Boulevard of Broken Dreams - which ended up together on the remix "Boulevard of Broken Songs" (download here #21).

Now there's an article out from PopEater.com (blog from AOL News), talking about artists that "borrow" from other artists. While there are some really obvious ones like Vanilla Ice taking David Bowie/Queen music from "Under Pressure" for "Ice Ice Baby", they actually give Green Day their own little paragraph.

Warning vs. Kinks' 'Picture Book'

i think that they both sound kinda similar... but its weird because my dad heard my blasting "Waiting" in my room and he came in and asked me who sang it. when i said green day, he said that they totally copied "Downtown" lol

Technically, it wouldn't be 'Motivation sounded like She's a Rebel.' It'd be 'She's a Rebel sounds like Motivation.' Motivation was released in 2001, so it was first. Either way, those songs don't sound the same at all.

 idk what's wrong w/ me today, I posted on a Sid Vicious dedication vid on youtube saying, 'Sid looks a lot like Cone from Sum 41' and this guy replied saying, 'technically, CONE looks a lot like Sid.'

sorry for spamming.. but tis weird.

its not copying, i mean they didnt copy the whole song, what i mean do they sing the same lyrics, no. but the sound and riffs were same, probably because they liked the sound and decided using it

Actually that jawbreaker song sounds pretty good

The intro does sound like she's a rebel, though

To me what makes a song copied is the chord progression and/or the melody

Chords don't have that much significance, it's more like all the chords joined and their intervals between each note what makes it
