New Green Day Interview in AP Magazine coming soon

i doubt the new album will be political. i mean, they support obama, and are happy he is in office, so i don't think they need to go political again, not like before. actually i think they would be mad if they did. people will remember AI as a political album (even if it wasn't), and to do the same again on the next album would be dreadful.

in an ideal world, the album will have 18 songs. there will be a couple of songs that are like their early stuff, a couple like how nimrod sounded, a couple like how warning sounded and a couple like how american idiot sounded, and then 3 or 4 completely different and new things. that way they will please everyone.

as for the 'nothiong to prove' quote, i think it is like 'everyone knows what we are about, we don't need to try and please everyone'. looking at that photo, it looks like bill has sort of got a sneer playing about his lips (in a good way). but i wonder if this album will have more 'attitude' to it like they are gonna do what they want and not care what people think, coz as much as they gained fans from ai, there were a lot of fans who turned against them, and stopped liking them and people who just hate them coz of it; almost exactly like after dookie. so i wonder if this album will, in turn, be like insomniac, a bit more angry. perhaps not quite so hard as insomniac, but along those lines.

as for being lazy? green day never have and never will be lazy when it comes to producing a new album. music is their life.

[/long ranting post!]

I would love to see something "Insomniac"-esqe. But then again, that's one of my more favorite albums. I just hope that with this whole "nothing to prove" attitude, they don't churn out something horrible. But I don't think that's the case, since in my opinion, Green Day are a top notch band.

It was hyped up to fuck when it was released.

But not too much before the actual release. If I remember right.

Dude, for some reason, everytime I don't sign on for a few days, new GD stuff happens.

But when I do sign in everyday, NOTHING happens...

But yeah, aside from that,

I'm kinda surprised they didn't change their look. I still see some eyeliner on Billie (or maybe it's the lighting?)

But as long as the album is awesome, I don't give a fuck :D.

Yeah i think everyone is getting pumped for this new album, no matter what the sound is going to be like. :D I can't even begin to guess how the sound is going to be...

I guess we will just have to wait...

Its very rare to talk about em here. They could release 12 albums in the morning and people here would still prefer to talk about a frogs rectum!

I'm just waiting to see how many debbie downers and negative nancy's will be posting on here about how much they hate the new album once it's out.

I think I am going to love it no matter what it sounds like... I just can't imagine not liking a green day record.

I would've thought there'll still be a fair bit of "hype" surrounding the new album's release.

Warner are in it to make money (that's their job) and at a time when record companies are struggling, I don't think they'll allow one of their most reliable bands to release an album without dumping a load of PR on it to ensure it makes them as much money as possible. Which is fair enough, it's their job.

I reckon the new album will have "political" elements to it - it just depends what your understanding of "political" is. It may be more personal and introspective, where maybe AI and Holiday are more overt, but I think that's just what Billie Joe is into and it figures that it'll come out in his writing.

I'm also confident the new album will be very very good. I'm also confident that I'll like it :)

Same for me. And this is what's so great about the new album... I know I will love it although I don't even have a clue what it will sound like.

I was just thinking there.....

Will the cover of the album be an artwork design or like a picture of the band?

I hope its a picture of them.

I don't know, but I'm hoping for an artwork design. At least then if we get a picture of the album cover before we hear any music, we could maybe try and guess what direction they're going for, if you get what I mean. An artwork design says a lot about the album content.

Plus I love analyzing stuff. With just a picture of the band there would be nothing to interpret except for Billie Joe's haircut. :D

I don't think I'll hate it. It might not be my favorite Green Day album. It might become my favorite album of all time! Who knows?

i must be the only person who isn't going to buy this magazine. i mean what is the point in spending £5 on a magazine where i'm only interested in one article, which is going to be put online anyway!

Ha! You must've read my mind.

The only reason i'd perhaps buy the magazine is for collection purposes. I collected quite a few during the American Idiot period, some i didn't even take out of the wrapping. For £5 though, i'll most likely just read it on-line too.

I can't wait for it to be put online! Thank you, GDA. I would prefer to have it physically in my hand, you know, be able to say: lookee here! I've got a magazine with Green Day on the front (I don't have one yet), but at least I'll be able to read it. That's the most important thing.

They are SO teasing us out. They must be roaring with laughter at all the theories and arguments and stuff that's going on here on GDA and all over the internet. I'm completely slavering for the next tidbit of news.....the 9th of December can't come quick enough!! But, I actually like it like that. By that time I'll have finished school for the year and I will only have nice things to look forward to! It's really helping to pull me through exams.

I can't wait...sigh.... :lol::D

I'm tickled to a part of all this, too. I've never really been a part of anything like this, pre-album. It's exciting. You can almost feel the electricity in the air. Or maybe that's just me. I'm a flaming dork.

please, Green Day don't start preaching about religion now.

Yeah, I've been a bit concerned about that, too... What with his Reverend persona coming out earlier this year lol I dunno, they've never attacked religion much before, and I get the impression they're not trying to make that kind of a statement w/ this record. I think this is gonna get back closer to their roots, bratty, rock out w/ your cock out punk rock and roll.

At least, I hope so :)

Haha, the religion thing, yeah I first thought 'huh?' when I read that. I think he means it's a case of having faith in something, no matter what that be, and he has faith in music and what it can do for people. At least that's what I got from it. XD
