924Nimrod
I love the Billie quote they have on the IC news page!!Billie Joe has this to say:"There's nothing to prove anymore…we're just trying to show we have this spirit that rock 'n' roll can change lives, and it really is a religious experience that means something to us. It's more about faith now."and my guess is the 20th of Jan!! Wow, good for them, ya know. I think it's great when punk bands stop trying to prove something. Hell, look at the Clash and Social Distortion.

Nova-Caine
I mean I would quite possibly drain him dry Or in other words, i would exhaust him, if I were his wife Understand?haha if only *licky*It is just fantastic to see a new photo, to know there is finally some real news coming, a new interview, and for some reason I've got a feeling the album isn't that far away.wooooooooooooooooooot!!! chrisloveslauren
I honestly don't think there is a chance that the album will be out in January as big albums like this tend to get at least three months of promotion once they are completed and I think they may play some shows before the album is released. Like I said, give it a month to a month and a half and the album will either drop (wow, that was so pimp of me to say) or we'll have a definite release date... Hell, since this whole issue is dedicated to new music in 09 then maybe it will tell the release date in the article. How ass kicking would THAT be? We'd have to start a countdown thread

But they've kinda, sorta been promoting it on the sneaky sneaky by creating buzz through youtube, and those videos. And now the interview. So it won't be long, I don't think... Nova-Caine
They might not want the big long pre-album promotion, they might want to just get it done and give it to us, it's not like it's not going to sell, it might not make the figures that AI did but like Billie said 'There's nothing to prove any more', they are at a point in their lives where they can just chill and enjoy the music they make, they have a big enough fan base to take them through the rest of their lives and they have for the last 15 years made music I like so I can't imagine it changing now.I think this next album/tour/experience of GD will be different from the rest, more relaxed, more at ease with themselves with nothing to prove.Well lets see. Ingrid
Edit: I agree with you as well ^holy shitthat is a terrible cover photoBillie's got lazy eyes!also photoshopped as fuckYeah I agree. Not necessarily saying that they look bad, but I think it's a bad photo. The lighting makes Billie look really weird, and it's also an extremely unflattering angle. Oh well. A bad cover photo is still better than no cover photo. Nova-Caine
I don't care what they look like, couldn't give a shit about the hair. I like the unimpressed look on Billies face, it's quite amusing. It's not a glossy pretty boy picture and thank fuck for that. All I care about is that they are back in the public eye with a new album ready to go, that's all it's really about, nothing else.

Maybe that was one of the points of FHT and that tour. They all got anchor tattoos to keep them grounded because they knew they were gonna jump back on the Green Day ride pretty soon, so they were having fun and remembering what it's all about and why they do what they do. Why they did it in the first place. For the music, and for the fans who really love them.I can't wait
hardtoconcentrate
GDCer's, Green Day, alcohol, London...........it's all getting closer Jax As for the picture, I like it. It's definitely photoshopped but I'm not making any complaints. I'm just thankful that we actually have a new picture!

I mean the record label will want to maximise profits so will go for the bg promotion/sell with a huge build up.I'm hoping you're right and they're just suddenly going to say "here it is!" It'd be fantantistic if that what the case. And I hope they are more relaxed this time round and not like AI when they were trying so hard to prove something. I can't remember how many they signed for but I think this is probably their last. I'm sure Warners will want the big party with fireworks and cake and all that jazz but bands do tend to be a bit more in control when they reach a certain status, and GD reached that in my eyes with the circus that was AI. Do you think they'll want all that again? I think they enjoyed it whilst it was happening but looking back I'm not so sure they do now. Which is why I think it will be a lot more low key.I think we all got caught up in AI but I wouldn't want it again for anything.

I am really hoping they''ll just do as they want with this album/tour. Its just that they may want it that way but WB mihgt have too much control over them. Fuzz
Is this the last album under their existing contract?I thought American Idiot was the last under the existing contract. While i've never really seen any proof, I remember lots of people saying they had a 5-album deal, which would have put AI as their 5th.

The Disappearing Boy
you know that 2009 is the 20th anniversary year of green day. they changed their name to green day around april 1989, so perhaps that is when they will release the album? i still think that january and february is too near.
