jose armstrong
http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/08/27/da...obama-campaign/according to Faux News it is true I love how the McCain aide is like "Daddy Yankee is popular among hispanic voters, they need to go easy on Yankee!" psh, Obama's got Jay-Z and Kanye. Who wins that battle?pft, Billie Joe pwns them allI'm considered hispanic, and i HATE daddy yankee.------------------yeah, the statement is not really saying "vote for Obama bitch"they only said who's go their support, it'd be the same as someone wearing an Obama sticker. Hermione
^I think it's probably meant in a slightly jokey manner. He's just saying "vote Obama!" in a lighthearted way with a bit of emphasis, I doubt he means it literally.
midlfecrysis
I don't know who said that, but I said over and over that this was 100% ok for them to doYou're not a 16 year old who supports Obama, you don't belong Thanks. Trotsky
I'm pretty sure Daryl was being sarcastic since he frequently observes how biased this forum is toward Obama.

Starbug
Damn. Green Day, did you want to get people talking? GOOD JOB! Why is this worth arguing over so heartily? My opinion of it is this, for what it's worth (which is nothing):They have the right to say who they support, just like I do. Yes, I think they have a certain level of 'responsibility' toward their younger fans, but not one that includes keeping quiet about something they believe in. It's not like they're out there sacrificing pigs and biting the heads off of bats. They simply stated they support Obama, ONE SENTENCE in a WHOLE PARAGRAPH of telling people to vote. They have the right just like you and I do, and they're exercising it. I respect them for it, to a point, because a lot of bands are afraid to speak up or just don't care. And I certainly don't see how it makes them hypocritical. What is the big fucking deal? DAMN! lolsilly

I like how it gets straight to the point, and it's nicely written, you can tell they wrote it themselves. Also WHY aren't we discussing the real issue here: it's pretty cool that Mike's name is first instead of Billie's for once isn't it? That made me smile

silvi@
i don't agree this electioneering...yes, green day can express they opinion there is nothing wrong in this, but according to me, they can't encourage their fans to vote a person who they support giving as a motivation: he can change the world. It's not correct, even if I'm a big big fan of green day, they can't "manipulate the minds" of they fans

Saying you support someone IS a way to campaign for them. What, do they say they support Obama for funsies? There's nothing wrong with what they did, just don't make it seem as if they wouldn't want people voting for Obama
