Just because the vid is basic strumming, it doesn't mean it can't sound as if it'll turn out epically. It doesn't necessarily have to be technically complicated to be a big, epic sound when it's finished.

Yeah, but don't call it epic until it is.

I don't care whether music is complex or simple, it's about how it makes me feel when I listen to it. Some of the most amazing songs ever written are 'simple' - think of early Beatles songs. There's beauty in simplicity.

Anything could,. You're acting like anything Green Day had played in that video, you would automatically think it'd be gold.

No, you're assuming that. Basically, some of what I heard reminds me of American Idiot. In my opinion, American Idiot is epic. Therefore there's a good chance it could turn into something similarly epic and ambitious - as opposed to if it had, say, sounded like Dookie to me.

I just really don't believe that said clip was anywhere near long enough, or quality enough to make any judgments whatsoever about the album, and song's quality, let alone epicness.

It just seems like many on this forum jump the gun by a mile on everything.

Well the thing is, it's fun. I don't think anyone's saying anything for certain here. We've heard a little bit of material, and it's fun to discuss and analyse it. I like how it sounds, and it makes me excited for the new album. But I'm not betting my life on it sounding a certain way, it's just speculation.

If you don't think it's possible to make a judgement on it, no problem. But I do!

I agree - it's fun to discuss it - it makes the anticipation that much more exciting to share it with each other. I'm not trying to figure out what the name of the song will be (or the name of the album for that matter), but I like discussing how what we've heard sounds and how it makes me feel.

Which, BTW, is GOOOOOOOOD!

Hello, sorry for lack of introductions, but I find myself very excited at the thought of new Green Day material after watching that new studio video on YouTube! These guys reckon the last bit sounds like Muse Knights Of Cydonia - has anyone else picked up on that? American Idiot stuff was epic sounding, maybe new stuff will be even more so.

The day I watched this, i thought that very same thing, that it sounded like Muse! Something about the tone of the guitar. I'm SO glad someone else has noticed this besides me :lol:

I don't think that it sounds anything like Muse at all, I love Muse, they're an epic band with very intelligent (most of the time) rhythms and lyrics... how in the hell Mr. Bellamy plays intense as he does is anybodys guess. Haha.

I am currently trying to beat 'Muse' on 'hard' on Guitar Hero, which I guess is why it reminded me so much of it. It of course doesn't sound exactly like it, but there's a part at the beginning of the song (Muse) that reminds me of that video, the twangy guitar. It does sound alike to me, and I think I'm the only one so far in this thread that thinks that :lol:

Maybe you aren't, you don't care, or whatever. You have your opinion.

But is that really a reason to get on anyone else's ass because they do? So people get carried away. It's a Green Day forum with Green Day fans. After four years of nothing, it's bound to happen. I don't see why it bothers you so much, and I certainly don't think it's a reason to critisize people for 'jumping the gun, or making judgments.'

But I won't block, and see no need to block, anyone from getting excited. I personally thought the songs sounded awesome, what little I heard of them. EPIC even :D hells yeah.

I've noticed most of the girls in this forum have responded far differently than the dudes lol We get all a-twitter. I'm surprised some of them (me included) haven't spontaneously combusted, or imploded, or something :lol:

on topic,the clip was just basic chord strumming,billie must've have only being playing powerchords or something.but music doesn't need to complex to sound good.it wasn't epic(yet,should be when it's done though)
