Life after Green Day?

You people are missing one of the main points of this discussion... What do you think Billie, Mike, and Tre will do if Green Day break up?

I absolutely believe that they will always be involved in great music. I have no doubts they will always be writing and making great music.

I think that they should only perform when they would like to perform. ( At least if not live we would have dvds from them on down the road.

I don't believe that there will ever be a day that they wouldn't be so awesome to see perform. They are YOUNG, energetic, fun...family and friend oriented

They know how to Rock...They Rule ...They are Green Day.

Personally they will never look or sound old to me...Are you kidding me, Just look at Billie Joe, Mike and Tre...They look and sound Great..

So if it is something they want to do ...you can count on being blown away.

They are Genius's and it's obvious they are The Best Band on the Planet by the anticipation to see them again and again.

I remain patient because I know it's going to be great and everytime I see or hear them I'm totally amazed how they rock me so well.

Best Wishes always to Billie Joe, Mike and Tre ...and Long live Green Day !

Live, Love, Laugh and Green Day forever!

xoxoTLove

When I'm 40, I'm not going to hope the bands I listen to now are still around. In fact, I hope they're not still around. I always say, my favorite band 5 years from now doesn't even exist yet.

i don't even think you're a fan of Green Day.

AND you're too selfish.

i don't like fans like *cough*you*cough...

fans that are not loyal,ya know?

He's a fan of Green Day, he may be selfish (if that is a good enough word, maybe too persistant) though too much for his own good. But he's a fan.

Honestly, I don't get how people can say they wouldn't want them to carry on JUST because they're old. So even if they still had a passion for music, totally enjoyed it, and were capable of making a really good, innovative album, they shouldn't do it just because they happen to be a certain age? It's so narrow-minded.

It's still possible to love being creative and express your feelings through music at any age. And seeing as Green Day are genuinely best friends (not just bandmates), make their music because they enjoy it and are inspired to do so, and don't seem to care about being 'cool', I see no reason why they couldn't do that.

Exactly what I think.

"*snatches guitar from Billie* NO! Go back to the old folks home!"

They're one of those bands that won't break up because they don't like each other. I think it would just kinda fade out, and nobody really know if they are broke up or not. I would still dig they're stuff after Green Day, I'm sure.

Definatly. They'll put out their albums, play some concerts, and then just stop. No press release of breaking up, just stop. I could see that being the most likely.

I totally agree with that. I think that it will happen around thier sixties and it will happen like that. I think that even though they will stop, they would still like the option to do something little again if they feel like it.(or something like that) I also don't think that they all really like the media in thier faces all of the time. Plus, they are all best friends... I think since they all enjoy what they do though and couldn't imagine not being in Green Day, they will all be involved in music somehow.

Billie will always write songs, Tre will always.. um... play the acordian, and I'm not sure what Mike will do.

Besides, do you think that you wouldn't like seeing Green Day live just cos theyr a little older?

I truly hope they stay together until their bodies tell them its time to stop - which I'm hoping won't be for about 25 years at least. I'd be completely devastated if they broke up any sooner. This band is such a huge part of who I am, I can't even tell you. They came into my life when I wasn't sure who I was or who I wanted to be, and I feel like a big part of who I am as a person today is all because of the great influence they've had on me. I want my children to be able to appreciate them as much as I do. I want to take my kids to a Green Day concert just to see how amazingly talented they are, and know what a huge impact they had on the music industry, and on their mom's life.

And too, I want to see the guys make music as they age - it's such a beautiful thing when someone is able to do what they love and have a real effect on the world until they're physically unable. The guys have a certain dedication and passion for what they do that not many artists have, and that leads me to believe they'll be around for a few more decades - I certainly hope so. I don't ever want them to just give up on their music - they've worked too hard and gotten too far to quit before its absolutely necessary. Even when they're 80, I'm sure they'll all figure out a way to make music, lol. It's just how they are.

OMG i feel the exact same way and those same thigns happened to me.Its all very true, especially the 1st part

Seeing Green Day when they're older would be interesting. You gotta think, Billie is 36 (Yeah, I know some of you ladies don't like hearing that, but it's true!), in 4 years he'll be 40. Sure, watching BIAB, he still can kick ass with his stage presence, but how about when he's 45 or 50? Is he still gonna be running from one side of the stage to the other, shouting "Somebody fuck me" while pretending to jack-off? I doubt it.

^50 really isn't old at all, but of course they could modify their stage act as they get older and still put on a great show. I mean, they already have - for example Billie Joe quit the stripping when he hit 30, saying he thought it was time to give it a rest at that age.

I reckon he has such charisma that he could still be an amazing frontman however old he is, even if he wasn't quite as active.

I really hope they continue being a band until they loose their energy. Why shouldn't they go crazy with 50 years?

Like in Germany, there are two big punk bands called "Die Ärzte" and "Die Toten Hosen" that still fucking rock even they're in their mid-forties...

Billie Joe will die in a car accident at 40, Tre will get depressed and OD with donut sprinkles, and Mike being the last surviving member will do concerts every year in their memory and grow filthy rich

Honestly... I see Billie writing a book or something. Mike, with his new addition, more than likely a father. And Tre... That crazy drum beatin bastard... Clown school?

I will shoot myself in the face if that happens.

why that?

it'll just be a sad, money snatch. I mean, yeah he's got great ideals and all, but no need to go make a book out of it.

I see Billie as a poet. If he wrote a book of poetry - similar to the way he writes songs - I think that would be great!

i can certainly agree with that.

"and with all of you who are saying i hope Green Day plays until they die!"

i'll quote Neil Young "It's better to burn out, then to fade away."

if Green Day goes out with a bang, they'll be remembered forever for being one of the greatest bands ever.

hall of fame nomination and induction would be inevitable.

look at Nirvana and Sublime, both who were doing extremely well up until the time their singer/guitarist died.

if they would've made another album each, both equally shitty, then died like they did.

they would never have the fame they do today, they would be remembered for that crappy album more so than the best album.

I suppose that could work. But if he's a musician, then I doubt he'd revert to poetry instead of lyrics. He doesn't exactly write poetically, you know? He's completely a lyricist.
