Life after Green Day?

Green Day seem to me like the kind of band who play music for the love of it, and write songs because they are truely inspired to do so, full stop. They don't strike me as the type to give a shit about being "too old".

For these reasons, I think if they still feel complelled to write music, they'll continue for years and years to come. But if they ever lose that drive to write, I'd imagine they'd stop at whatever age. Because that's what Green Day is - real, truthful songs and passion for music. If it was contrived and forced, it wouldn't be Green Day so they wouldn't do it.

I hope they keep that passion for music and go on as long as they feel like, and I think they will. GREEN DAY FOREVER!!

hymen sister :P

Officially?

I don't think there's an Official Board of Chronic Masturbators (though there fucking well should be), but if there was he'd be the ambassador for it.

If they ever do break up (I hope I die before that happens, honestly.), I will be very sad.

I will cry and throw hissyfits to no end.

A true loss to the music world.

HOWEVER.

I would be more than satisfied with the material they have already put out.

Exactly.

Same for me, they are my favorite band ever and they have influenced me so much in my life. And for two more albums that would seem like too little of material for me. I would want more. I would probably want to die before that happens because Green Day has influenced me onto a broader sect of music and I love that about them. But two more albums is two short. But they also have enough material for me to be satisfied.

However, I haven't found a REALLY good reason to keep on living. I just do. Green Day prevented my death. I will always be devoted to them.

Same for me, I was depressed and I wanted to die. I wasnt going to kill myself at the time. But I found Green Day and they helped me live and be a happier person. I am eternally devoted for that. If I hadnt found thier music then I would the very unhappy and probably suicidal. I dont know what would have happened. My life has changed because of this band. But I know I can live without them if I surround myself with their music. I just dont want them to break up soon.

i can't even imagine of my life without GD without their music or the hope of listening to a new GD album. i know i'm addicted but i don't feel shame or bad about it. this band has changed my life.

i don't like seeing old men playing but i don't want to see my favourite band breaking out.

i think that they'll make more than two albums they love what they are doing!

Same, I dont like seeing 70 year olds rocking out but I dont want Green Day to break up. I wouldnt know of what to think about it.

Actually I think that if they broke up that Billie Joe would continue to write songs and maybe for other people and all. They would spend time with thier family do some other side projects and things like that.

i seriously think that they could go on for a while. the only thing i think that would split them up is either a huge argument, or if one of them dies. and i just can't see them falling out any day soon. i serioulsly wouldn't be bothered if they were still making music at 60. so long as they were cool with it and weren't cheesey with it, i would respect them for it coz i think it takes a lot of guts to continue performing at that age.

but if they did split, i'm certain they would continue in music. billie either with his own solo stuff, or with PHGP, or with adelin records. i can see tre joining/creating a band as a drummer. as well as doing a solo album of his own...'unique' brand of music :P and mike with the frustrators, or his own band. i feel certain we would still hear from them.

That is pretty much what I think would happen.

Definitly, I think music is all he is and he loves it so much. He will be doing something in the music industry.

This thread actually scares me...

They wont break up that soon. At least a few more albums will be released.

Yeah, I know. I remember him saying that. Then Im like he will never quit doing something. They are very important for me as well and basically makes me think of the good times in my life and getting over my depression. They were big in that process.

Same for me as well. They have helped me so much to get over my problems. Also while listening to thier music I would solve and think of some problems in my life and figure them out.

Ye, i know that feeling especially when my grandad died, but it always seems to come back, to St Jimmy...dunno why though.

Same with me but with Jesus of Suburbia. That song always allows me to think creativly and to figure out problems in my life.

Green Day are such a huge part of my life.

I'd be devestated if they broke up....truly torn apart...I can't even begin to think what it would feel like.

For almost a third of my life they've been a constant...Their music has helped so much, words cannot descirbe...They've helped me become the person I am and also helped to to stay true to that...Its also inspired me, made me laugh and smile and especially have hope when times have gotten pretty tough. I love Green Day and always will.

I don't care if certain people think that's pathetic...it probably is but its the truth...nothing I can do about that =]

There will be no life after Green Day.

Hahaha, nah. But I would be pretty depressed over it, and I'd probably get really emotional about it too. They are a huge part of my life, and I don't know if I'll be the same if they do break up. I have a feeling when that does happen though, it's going to be around the time I'm married and stuff, so it won't be as big of a deal as it would now.

What would be worse then them breaking up though, would be if one of them died or got killed . That would be so much worse. Hopefully that never happens.

I reckon you'll be looking at life after Green Day sooner than you might think. Hell, this next album is taking a long time. I think when (if?) it gets released, they'll tour for a couple of years then jack it in. After all, 7 albums-worth of songs has probably used up every conceivable powerchord combination...

That's pretty much the same for me as well. I think I will at least be in my 20's before this happens and I might be married by then and it wouldnt be as important as it is now. But with at least two or so albums it will take a while to take and with everything they have already done. It's more than enough sufficient for me.

Nah, they love it! I can't imagine Billie Joe not wanting to get up on stage and be a showman. What else are they gonna do? Green Day aren't like other bands, they're special :P

I see Green Day as being kind of like the Rolling Stones. How was life after the Stones? No one knows because it NEVER HAPPENED.
