A lot of new members here mention that they don't like to bring up Green Day related topics because of the reaction of some of the members. It's a forum dedicated to the band so Green Day shouldn't be a taboo subject. It's not so much that we are limited to talk about specific topics but it's the fact that some people, who no longer like the band, post up idiodic comments when Green Day topics arise. Everyone here is a Green Day fan, or has been at some point so therefore no-one at all should be pissed off when the band discussions come about.

I think people shouldn't let themselves be put down or deterred by negative comments, but that's easy to say and harder to put into practice for someone who's new to the forum. When I joined this forum in the AI era, there were Green Day threads on every level, from the trivial to the deep, and it was much easier for someone to just jump in wherever they felt comfortable. Quite simply, there was a huge outpouring of love and appreciation for the band going on, coupled with the sheer impact of AI itself. People were discussing not only the band and the shows, but also the ideas the album brought forward.

When I joined, it was because I felt so much for this music that I had to write about it, anyway and every way I could - and I did, a lot, lol!! I still feel the same way, but a lot of the Green Day topics that come up now are stuff that I've already talked about, and I'm not usually moved to repeat myself. So, this is by way of showing my support for those who have the same need to express their feelings, in a climate that's a tad more cynical. Don't give up. :)

leave it the way it is.

no offense, but its already quite and boring here anyways.

splitting them will make it even quieter, and it will also be harder to manage in a way.

do it when they release a new album, and when their is an increased interest of the band it self

I feel like we've done that.

It didn't work before, I don't think will work now.

I like it this way, this mix of threads, its more interesting.

I would leave it the way it is.

There are lots of sections already, splitting this one into two more sections would make the board too messy, I think.

Well, obviously I'm a minority in more ways than one around here :D ,but I've always thought it should be split. When I was new on here, and now still, I found it terribly difficult to find any threads on GD without going to alot of searching. At the least, something has to be done about how many pages of threads there are. I mean 304 pages! Shouldn't they be archived/deleted after a period of inactive time. I still don't see how splitting the thread would cause any problems. How could it. It would basically just simplify and minimize time spent to find a GD related topic. Plain and simple. What is the problem with being more organized.

I think it's a good idea because sometimes it's a bit confusing when there are Green Day things you don't see...

In any other forum I'd be in favor of a split because I like things organized. But things seem to work the way they do around here and I don't see a big reason to split them. I used to favor splitting them earlier on until I saw there was really nothing great to be gained of it. I also don't empathize too much with either side of the people who only want to see general discussion and the people who only want to see Green Day, it isn't that hard for either of them to not click on a thread.

Essentially what I'm saying is that things are working right now. If we split them we take a risk - an unnecessary one when things are still flowing along just fine. It may work, but you know that if it doesn't work, we'll have to go through the process of merging them back together and get people re acclimated to the way things were. That and GDC can often be a very fast paced place and it wouldn't be my preference to risk slowing it down.

A decision won't be made immediatly, and your votes are being used as a guideline, not a law.

eg 'I've made up my mind and just want you lot to feel involved'?

:P

I think we should. The clutter of the pin board gets me angry. Also, I personally think it looks nicer.

NEVUH!NONONONNONONON

and if this is my opposition I believe my input should be put higher on the list. :)

I think it should be split. For many reasons. The biggest one being so fans of the band don't have to bother with the BS of general if they don't want to.

I also think when something happens with the band and this place explodes again, it would just make things easier for everyone.

I think it might confuse people who are used to the forum, n00bs might be ok, cos they won't know any different but for the "elders" it might take some getting used to..maybe, i duno

When I first came here as well I thought it was too cluttered but after a while it has kind of worked for me, if they have done it before and it didnt work out why try it again I see it as. But I have no problem with it being split but you risk some of the threads being missed out on because there is no activity and it would be boring. I hate that there are too many pages to look through for something and having to use the search but its sufficient for me enough now. I have thought ever since I came here that to defuse the clutter a bit why not delete repeate topics that have no real info on it and someone made a mistake of making it and you can still keep the closed topics that you can still see and has a lot of info. in it like the old how are you feeling thread. They should be archived or deleted I think as well. It would make things easier to find around here.

But I wouldnt have a problem with it being split but I voted no because at the moment I see more cons than pro's.

we need to do that again. it's annoying when I want to talk about Green Day on this forum, but I have to go through 2 pages of "favorite toothpaste"-esque threads before getting to one that's remotely related to the band.

and I really don't see a reason to not do it. can someone give me a reason why people are voting no?

I would like it it split. Sometimes I don't care for the the other threads and just want to come one and find what i'm looking for.

That's one reason I am in the middle of this and wouldnt mind it changed a bit.

Well some people are voting no because it would be boring and people who have been here for years would get mixed up a hard to difficult adapting to it and it didnt work last time as well with everything else Andres said in the first post.
