You joined this place because you did care about green day. Why? Cause it's the GREEN DAY COMMUNITY. If you don't want to partake in the Green Day threads, then don't. But don't suggest we change the community because you've lost interest in the band. Deal with it.

Would you like to comment on my other point to split the section?

And I'll suggest that we change the community if I fucking want to because we're given the opportunity to.

Is that not what this thread is for?

The only way I'd ever see a split being even remotely possible, is if the bigger Green Day news were put in general. Why? If the Green Day talk forum was as retarded as it sounds, I wouldn't look at it that much, but I don't want to miss out on the important stuff just because I don't care about the pointless chit chat.

You act as if people do not change and enjoy other things now.

Maybe some people would enjoy it better if they didn't have to scan through all these Green Day threads, hmm?

I know it's not a big struggle to do that, but why don't you keep the whole "lost interest in the band" out of this.

People lose interest with them, and some people gain it with other things.

If you don't want to partake with open ideas, then don't.

People enjoy General Chat, without Green Day topics, so you deal with it.

Neither side should complain about having to look through threads, we have a search engine. If you look for a thread you liked from a year ago and would rather do it by going through the pages of general instead of searching with the engine, you really aren't thinking.

yea i used to dread the search untill it was modified. now i use it almost every day.

it's alot easier now than a few months ago. not as many irrelevant results come up.

go ahead and split it up

in fact

move threads around

bring some off topic to general

put other bands in general

put general in offtopic

switch around, change stuff up, making it different and interesting

why be afraid to split it up?

I suggest, having old GD threads and basic GD discussion in its own section

but any new GD news such as new album updates be put into General for a couple days or a week and then moved to GD section

The search engine doesn't always work.

after reading Kelsey's post i like that idea.

and another idea: split tvs and movies to each their own.

Lame. It's retarded when the forum is so well organized, and a group of people continue insisting on splitting the forums into more and more parts.

There's always google. Still not big enough of an issue to be splitting forums into a gazillion parts.

We'd like to hear your feedback on splitting up the Green Day and General forums.

Oh goodie, I feel special.

Split and merge Green Day with 'Submit news' and call is 'Green Day in general', or something like that.

When Green Day make an announcement for the new album, do it. If you do it now there won't be any activity in the Green Day section, whereas the General forum will stay much the same as it is now, but if you do it when Green Day are actually making music and there's actually Green Day news etc to talk about, then they'll (in theory) be equally active.

If they do decide to go ahead with the split, now would be the best time to do it. The reason being that the split is going to be a LOT of work for Andres and everyone else involved because they will have to go through and move all the Green Day related threads from general to the new Green Day section.

If they wait until news of the new album or until around the release date, the forum will be bombarded with new Green Day threads and it will just be chaos to try and split it up at that point.

Now I'm even split on the split. Damn you split supporters and your valid points!!!

Also, some of us use this place regularly... you might have 4 times the posts I do, but... who are you? For someone so opposed to Green Day threads in the same place as the general threads, you don't seem to partake in the general discussions much at all. This is the first I've heard from you at least.

Well i think i'll take this discussion over to the mods now. I think there are some very valid points here on both sides, and I really do appreciate the feedback.

I'm still not sure I see the pro's of splitting them up, and anyone is welcome to PM with any other thoughts.

But for right now I'm going to continue this discussion with the team to see what they think about all the points made in this thread.
