in the Grapevine of Green Day...

^ i dont care about the AI magic.

really, who wants a repeat of american idiot? it was a good album, yea. but it's time to move on, continue experimenting. just as they've done with all their other albums.

i'm certain that green day are clever enough not to do a repeat of AI, i'm certain they will try someething new (as they generally do).

but i will say that green day have been working on this album since january. we know they had the demos at that stage and from there they presumabley had to record and sort out album art and stuff. i guess that fbht took up a large section of the first 5 months of the year, as they needed a break form what they were doing, which is fair enough. but they have had pretty much since may on this album now.

i do believe something will come out soon, but not because of the rumours, i never believe rumours. But i think something is coming simply becauses they have been working on this thing for a long time. surely they can't have a lot more to do, as they have been working on it for pretty much the last 4 months.

incidentally, how long before ai was released, or before warning was released, did we hear anything? six months? 1 month? 2 weeks? coz i mean if we haven't heard anything now, it probably won't be released til next year now.

i'm going for easter next year.

damn that twat for having everything I want!

He doesn't annoy me, personally, but oh yeah, I could definitely see how that could be quite irritating lol He's a good dude, though!

But you're totally right... lol

I agree. I didn't mean to say AI wasn't snotty, it just seemed less so than other albums, it was more polished. Not that that's an all together bad thing or anything... But St. Jimmy was CLASSIC snot  I love that song... AI is my 2nd favorite GD album, I love it. I'm not meaning to criticize it lol

i never thought of st jimmy as 'snotty', but i see where you are coming from.

i think the whole album had a 'polished snotty' feel to it. i mean just listen to billie's 'crunchy' voice at the end of american idiot and during st jimmy. the album had different effects like that, which gave it a more 'proffessional' feel. more complete.

Haha, don't worry I know you love it :D. Yeah, definitely more polished.

It always surprises me when AI is described as more serious, I think all their albums are pretty serious really.

I just believe it's up to them. I'm using one of your examples as a basis on what i'm going to say:

You said in your first post about the music tv channels showing them for like an hour or so;

So what? I'm not arguing, i'm just stating that that can barely be used as evidence to be used to say that 'they're coming back soon'. Because, I've seen Kerrang have specials about bands that don't even play live anymore.

I don't think that point was a strong reason to prove or state what you're trying to.

People are just running out of things to play or say, or aren't possibly pulling in the ratings or sales, so base bogus claims that Green Day's new album is imminent or 'news' that we've heard before in the past that has been eaten, digested and recycled for readers.

Let's keep Bono out of this, we don't want people to get even more confused or muddled up.

I don't personally know what other discussion there is to be had, I suppose that remains to be seen.

okay doky being "kinda" old enough to remember the last 2 tours Greenday did and remembering the happenings and tell tale signs of when things are being released... i.e more mentions of such band in mags, TV, randoms French newsletters :P sorry had to have a dig :D

Greenday are now being played on Kerrang and Scuzz every hour! NME/Kerrang/Q are all due to do a center page on Greenday with Oct and Nov... (and no for all you weird minded that doesn't mean a naked fold out picture of greenday...)

I give it 30 - 40 days till "something" is announced! if not on the FIRST UK gig i will buy everyone who replays a Pint of the coolest most refreshing beer or a coke for the under 18s wink wink...

I have to confess that they are playing GD more all of a sudden and we were debating this at home. Whether they knew something or were playing stuff because they "thought" they knew something. Last time it was Linkin Park and the album did appear a month later. But in that case, we all had got the album date so it was less of a surprise. This time..... I am going for 2009. I hope to be proved wrong. I think they are whipping up interest but have no definate date. I think they think, its going to be soon.

It's been a long time since Green Day did a major interview, as a band - maybe this is what this is about. They could be saying where they're at, discussing the Foxboro stuff, whatever - regardless of whether it's something definite about the next album, it would be great to hear from them in some depth. I'm also thinking - Oct/Nov, the entire world is gonna be focused on the election, is that a great time to be looking to publicize a long-awaited album?

there hasn't been new green day album news in almost a year.

when we heard about Billie writing piano songs.

i hope this is a sign that they kept us isolated from the band, then all of the sudden they'll start to release info.

i've been waiting two years, you can't keep me waiting.

It's only 4 months (3 and a half) to 2009 and like you say, elections, it has to be 2009. Anything earlier would be great, but not expected.

Would've been? i thought it was... ha... I'm a smarty pants...

But really, it made me  cause I didn't even notice it until just now.

It'd be pretty awesome if something was announced soon. And I'm going for early 2009. Maybe. I'd love to get the new album and I know most of us have been waiting for it. But I'm not gonna get my hopes up too high just because of the fact that if I do, and nothing happens. I'll be very disappointed. I say if they want to take long they can. They've given fans a lot and they deserve to take as much time as they want.

bare in mind all ive seen is a layout not content

why would a magazine send out the layout for a magazine or article with no actual content? and why would they send it out to a record company that has nothing to do with the band in the article? I can understand magazines and what not being sent out prior to release or to the actual bands record company or management but not in the way you are saying.

Maybe it's not been written yet? If it's a issue being released in a few months.....
