honestly, i'd like a new green day album but i really dont miss "billie joe armstrong".

i mean, i do. but i really miss the reverend. like it's not even funny how i'd rather hear a couple stories and pictures from an FHT show than go to some huge venue and end up being in the back of a show with 65,000 people.

idk, please dont kill me. i just like him better lately.

which doesnt even make sense, seeing that they're the same person and all :/

did you go a big show?

i loved it.

Off Topic, by the way, the link to the EMA short video doesn't work. It goes straight to EMA site but doesn't play the video. Unless they just instantly took it down.

OMG. yep his personality as the Strychnine ( cimon guys lets call him this not reverand) is too different than Billie joe... but i absolutely miss Billie joe.

^Im good with The Rev.

Its short for The Reverand Strychnine Twitch. Which is what he referred to himself as during the FHT shows.

I understand what you're saying.

You like the small, not-very-well-known FHT shows and the guys better than the huge, famous, Green Day and their shows, right?

Yea i guess you can say that.

did you go a big show?

i loved it.

no, i havent. but i get more joy watching 30 second FHT and pinhead shows on youtube than i have watching an hour and a half bullet in a bible.

but it's not about the touring really.

yea it's more of the personality i miss. like with billie, i know his personality. i've seen enough interviews and i've read enough articles. 20-something years of green day condensed into 3, sometimes it's like i've had enough. with the reverend (and yes, i insist calling him that because i can't pronounce Strychnine) it's like, i want more, it ended too suddenly. MORE MORE MORE! i sound like some whiney baby jaysus christ.

So i've got a question for anyone thats seen green day and has been on the floor-

if i were to join the fanclub and get presale tickets, does that automatically mean that i'l have floor seats? or is it just kinda a toss up?

I'm just wondering because i want to be on the floor, (obviously i'd still be thrilled to be going even if i wasn't on the floor, but it's just preferable) and i'm not sure if i should pay to join the fanclub without knowing if i'll get the tickets i really want. But then again, if i get the tickets through ticketmaster when they go on sale to the general public, i risk not getting tickets at all. so can anybody help me with this?

as we havent had any tickets sold so far on the new version of the idiot club I cant give a definative answer. We had tickets given as prizes on the old club (no pre-sales) and these, where possible, were floor tickets.

I should imagine that the pre-sales will be floor tickets but wouldnt like to promise them. I`m not even sure if being a member will guarantee tickets for all those who want them. depends on the size of the show you want to go and how many other members apply for them. we dont know yet how it will work. once tour dates are announced we will be asking for this kind of information and will pass it on to those interested.

^Thanks for the info, I'd been wondering the exact same thing.

I think I know what you mean, and I certainly wouldn't say no to some Rev action either!

But I think the Rev is really just Billie's existing stage persona, only maginified about 100 times . So even though of course a small show would be spectacular, he'll still wow us in a bigger show. Who knows, maybe a bit of Rev-style has rubbed off on him? :woot:

I've been led to believe that an Idiot Club tour announcement and pre-sale is fairly imminent... if true, i think it might be time to sign up!

where did you hear that? i can't believe they will start touring soon, i mean we know nothing about the album.

I was told by a fellow GDC member, at the Rancid gig in Sheffield last night. She's pretty in the know about Green Day things so i'm pretty drawn by it. Thats what i was thinking but perhaps they'll be touring as the album is realised, which could conceivably be about June time next year, which is when i understand they will start!

I personally don't want Billie to be anyone other than, well, Billie Joe Armstrong. There certainly isn't another one. He's a great guy, and on stage, he has fantastic showmanship - the best I think I've ever seen. I don't think he needs to change a thing. I love him the way he is. :)

The Rev and Fink are both fun characters, but that's as far as they go - they're characters. I do like seeing him have fun dressing up and acting crazy, and I get what you mean - I just prefer Billie over any of the fake personas. He's an all around awesome man.

Guns 'n' Roses definitely beat Green Day this time around... with the album release haha.

I'm thinking May next year the new album'll be out... that's only a rough guestimate.

wait... how can you not pronounce this? Especially when it's in one of their songs? :/

strick-nine

I highly recommend anyone who likes foxboro hot tubs to listen to the Sonics. The most fabulous 60's garage band that ever existed, and they totally invented punk rock.

Anyway, the reason Billie Joe went by the reverend strychnine twitch was a reference to their song "Strychnine".

^ well in the song to me, it sounds like stick-nah. and since i knew it wasn't how the name was pronounced, i just stuck to the rev.

i think we can call him whatever we want. just like how some people say Billeh, Billie, Biwwie and "the short guy with alot of energy" :P

----

greendaytone (who's name i KEEP FORGETTING btw!), thanks for the little bit of news. even if it's not confirmed, even hearing something like that is really great!
