I don't think we can underestimate how difficult it is to follow up American Idiot, both for themselves as a band and also because of the expectations that are out there for them now. There's almost a pressure on them to continue along the political theme now as well, whether they might want to or not. I suspect they probably do, but that in itself will make the process a bit trickier and longer i expect.

I think the length of time they've left it is right.... but that times up now!

Yeah, that was why the FHTB thing was so good. It was at the extreme of natural! The way they did that under a different guise gave them the freedom to dettach themselves from all the expectations that now go with Green Day.

Imagine if they released Stop, Drop and Roll as Green Day. Even though its great, i reckon it would've got universally panned by the critics.

It was indeed very awesome. Haha, yeah you're right, some critics are probably waiting to pan whatever they do, so if they had an excuse like "it's a 60s rip off" they probably would've grabbed it.

Although if it'd been released as Green Day there would've been a whole lot less whinging about it around here

There will be plenty of Noobies,and oldies, who would appreciate a thread devoted to their appearance. And I've never understood why the hell it is such a "Taboo" thread anyway. What is so wrong with talking about the guys looks. Isn't that all part of the entire package. Not the most important,but certainly fun to talk about.

I don't think it's taboo at all, their looks are a nice perk IN addition to their excellent music, they're also gorgeous I don't see why there isn't a thread about GD's appearance, and only that. Like the hair, the clothes, the 'guyliner' and that way it wouldn't be spam.

Hear, hear! It's just another of the many little aspects of the band to enjoy as a bonus to the music, why not talk about it like any other aspect? Discussing it is a bit of fun, just like discussing anything to do with Green Day is a bit of fun.

The way Billie Joe acts on stage, he clearly is not offended by people appreciating his appearance, in fact he actively encourages it! Why pretend that (small) element of the band doesn't exist?

I've never been a fan of those discussions, whether your a new fan thats mature or a 12 year old teenie. I think it makes our community look bad because I'd prefer that this remain a group of people devoted to their music. I realize it's just fun, and you're all serious fans of their work, but I feel like it undermines our value as a community when we have a gaggle of people who constantly feel the need to talk about how much they love Billie Joe's hair and all the naughty things they wanna do with him.

I agree. I mean, I know alot of these girls do it in a sporting manner, i.e. they're talk like that sometimes for fun. But there are some points when it gets just damn creepy. No offense to you gals. In fact, I wish there was a fourm dedicated to girls talking about how attractive I am (HA!)

Yeah I see where you're coming from Andres. I just find it a bit strange when discussion of very random, trivial subjects is sometimes allowed, but if it's a trivial subject to do with Green Day, it isn't. Green Day strike me as a band who don't take themselves too seriously - they use sexuality and innuendo as part of their act, and it seems kind of artificial to ignore that.

Sometimes even simply describing the facts of something Green Day themselves have done feels like it's taboo because it's too "rude". Well Green Day are a bit rude sometimes

But yeah it's no big deal, that's just my opinion. Like Starbug says, still a great forum

Trust me, I understand the way the guys can be, but I've never been a fan of people oogling over them. It's not part of Green Day to have people telling them how hot they are. Billie Joe saying "Somebody fuck me" is very different from a bunch of girls saying "I wanna fuck Billie Joe".

I still love you all though. Just not a side of the fandom i appreciate.
