Kryssi.
I mean, yeah, as Netty said, the internet is such a powerful too, weither we like it or not. I mean, it could be ON the internet, and you know... only strict access to these shows? Not for just internet forum members but .. hmm, i'm not quite sure how to word what i'm thinking out. Even so, each person could bring up to 4 people in with them if it was down to names on a list.
netty
if they did that then yes, it would. but I wasnt aiming that comment at you. I was answering mommas little nightmare who said how it started. or something like that any way.
Hermione
I don't think there's anything wrong with them using the internet the way they have. But at the end of the day if I didn't have access I would have been completely left out of the entire Foxboro thing until I bought the CD. When bands do stuff only on the internet unnecessarily it sucks. For example download only singles. Why not just put out a physical single as well? It is unfair to fans who aren't rich enough for internet access. Luckily until now Green Day have treated ALL their fans fairly more than most bands. It would be sad to see them change that. Psycho Britney
Hey I didn't mean to offend you. It just pisses me off when people who don't have the internet get left out unnecessarily. My annoyance wasn't directed at you That's so cool that you were there! I know it wouldn't suck, but it would suck just a little bit if you were right at the back and could only see the band on those big screens.Yeah! It was frickin incredible being there and then having Bullet In a Bible as a reminder! I do know what you mean about being right at the back-I saw a diff band at Milton Keynes and was basically right at the back on the hill. I did think oh I wish I was nearer the front more in the thick of it like when I saw GD!

Mommy's Little Nightmare
if they did that then yes, it would. but I wasnt aiming that comment at you. I was answering mommas little nightmare who said how it started. or something like that any way.Well it's not like I actually know what the BAND was doing. All I saw, and people that didn't know about it saw, was a link on the internet to that MySpace. I was meaning with the fans, and not with them. To alot of us, it was like "Hey, there's this MySpace, and the singer sounds like Billie Joe..."And I was making the point that it was an internet thing. And I mean, like you said, it was an experiment, so they may not have realized it would blow up the way it did. I don't know, but they've definitely been an internet thing. It's not like I see anything wrong with it, nor did I say that I did in the first place.
Guest laurarols
It would be nearly impossible to get tickets because the small venues would sell out too fast.yeah totally, and then people would probably want to break in, or just cause so much chaos. 924Nimrod
Hell, even if they did more stuff like the Filmore or the Warfield in San Francisco. It's be much smaller compared to Milton Keynes. They played the Warfield not too long after AI came out. They could play the types of places Rancid are playing at on their tour.

Good fun for all involved.

communitykid
I hate the idea of them playing a small club, and not being able to get everybody in.
Bryn
^ that is a good point. I think medium sized venues are the way to go. I kinda skimmed through the thread, so I apologize if anyone said this, but I am wondering how many people who really liked American Idiot would like anything else. I only say that because I have talked to people who only like American Idiot. So would they go see them on another tour, or would a smaller venue tour be possible is what I am trying to say. The American Idiot craze I think would have made even Medium Venues really difficult.
Ila Reto
I only say that because I have talked to people who only like American Idiot.welcome to my world. luckily now most of my world is here- so i feel much much better about myself as a fan. and i'm guessing you are too?the AI craze would/has made most medium venues impossible. but now since their fanbase has expanded through american idiot. i doubt they will be able to cram in more people- give or take a few fans they loose along the way. I have not been here in ages, but I love these forums. None of the people I know are fans, so it is nice to come here. Yeah I think it is possible the AI craze might have made Medium Venues impossible, but I keep hoping not. I admit though I liked Green Day since Dookie I never became a Hard fan until AI. Because AI came at a time in my life when I needed it, and soon after I bought their other stuff. If that makes sense....Anyway back on topic. I guess I will keep wishing for a Medium Venue tour since I missed the FHT shows.
mbk
They actually did play 4 dates at relatively small clubs when AI came out. It was a promotional thing to introduce the new album, but it's the kind of thing they're likely to do again, I would think.

Just some shit to promote the new album. Besides if the new album so suppose to be so damn mature, then it's content should be better suited for smaller venues
Hermione
^Yeah, but I doubt they'd do it for us in England Although in the past (eg Nimrod tour) they did play some relatively smaller venues over here it doesn't seem like they would now. I know it's just because of where they live and geography, but it's pretty annoying to see them doing nearly all the extra cool things like smaller concerts in the same places over and over again. The same people get all the treats! Instead of California getting all the luck, I hope they show England and the rest of the world some love 'cause my chances of ever seeing them live at all are looking very slim at the mo. chrisloveslauren
I would love to see them play at a small Glasgow venue but realistically know that when they play here it will be the SECC or even Hampden if the next album is as successful as American Idiot. They played at a gig that held 600 people and it took like 2 months for it to sell out xD

netty
big venues sell out just as quickly these days. hence the guys doing this now. at least those who can actually get to the venue stand a chance of getting in. well apart from the bloody scalpers. damn their eye balls into buckets of stew! Mommy's Little Nightmare
big venues sell out just as quickly these days.Too true. When I saw them for the AI tour, I had sense enough to get the tickets during the pre-sale. And when the ACTUAL sale happened, they sold out the venue in about 15 minutes. And I mean, it's no Milton Keynes, but it's no small venue either. 16,000 seats.
