Sanah
I think they were referring to people who claim to be a HUGE fan of a band, but only really like a couple of songs.I hate it when people do that.Actual conversation:Her: OMG. I know all of their songs!!!Me: *quirks eyebrow* Oh really? I highly doubt that, dear. Her: No! I dooo.Me: Then name them all. Her: Well... erm... arzosah30
Assumption that cause I like GD that I now need to dye my hair black..Assumption that I'm too old to like a band like GD - I wear badges on my satchel to work, have posters on my walls and get weird looks ... Tell me where there is a "Best Before" or "Use By" date on GD...

Guest Phoebe.
I'm normally on the other side of the fence I'd never diss someone's taste in music to thier face, but when they're gone it's all "hahaha a heart grenade badge on thier blazer. that is so 2005, what a cretin"
BadgerLALA
Some of the guys in my class hava a wall that is a photos on GD and it is written "FAGS!". And they don't think I don't see want they are up to. I don't care want they do. But if the start to say anything about that I listen to GD (like: you suck because you listen to GD) I will go to my form teacher and tell him about it.And one day I will get my revenge. TotalBasketCase13
Meh, I usually just get the whole "Green Day sucks" thing if people comment at all when I wear their shirts and such. I've defended them sooo many times. I also find it hilarious when people bitch about how "crap" new GD is compared to old GD, but when you try to ask them whats their favorite older GD song, they always come up with something like Basket Case or Good Riddance. Never anything that wasn't a single. I'm just like, okay, if you haven't heard an entire older cd, how can you judge whether, as a whole, its better than American Idiot? Hermione
I don't see how that girl was "judging" you. She happens to have heard WMUWSE and likes it, and happens to not be a huge Green Day fan. So what? Haven't you ever just liked one song by a band, but not listened to their whole back catalogue and researched everything about them? She was being friendly, starting a conversation about music because she saw you wearing a Green Day shirt. Just because she then dared to talk about other bands that she likes it doesn't mean she was making assumptions about you. How would she know you didn't like them if you didn't tell her?If anything, to be honest you're making assumptions about her just because she doesn't share your exact same musical taste. If someone says something to me like, say "I got Green Day's first album, Dookie", it doesn't make me scoff at them. They've only just got into Green Day, or maybe just don't like them as much as me, who cares? They're not gonna immediately know everything about them so I'm not gonna be snobby about it. And if someone ever does make an assumption about me because I like Green Day, it won't matter cos I can either set them straight by talking to them, or more likely not care. Adrii1039
Has anyone ever had someone make a judgement because you like Green Day?hmm...i have a few situations. hahaPeople assume that my favorite color is green only because the word 'green' is in Green Day... And when I wear Green Day shirts, alot of people are like "Green Day's gay. Why do you like them so much?"And also people make the classic remark about how old Green Day is better... Trotsky
Has anyone ever had someone make a judgement because you like Green Day? Here is one that happened to me:I'm waiting in line at Fenton's Ice Cream, wearing my "International Supershirt". When all of a sudden, this young middle-school girl (I could tell because she was wearing a Jepson Jr. High (Vacaville school) shirt) turns and looks at my shirt and goes "*gasp* You like Green Day?!" Her mother turns and says, "Well obviously, honey, he's wearing there shirt." I just smiled and said something along the lines of of "Yup." The young girl then says, "My favorite song is 'Wake Me Up When September Ends'". I'm trying not to be a smartass and say, "NO! Really?! I would have never guessed." But I didn't. Then her and her mother start talking to me about how they recently saw My Chemical Romance, and say Korn with Fall Out Boy. And I just sat there, looking at them. What the fuck? I can't stand any of those bands. Just because I like Green Day, does not, I repeat, NOT mean I like/listen to themMan, you really do have a hard life. chickin'pickin'
First off, people might actually really like WMUWSE or BOBD, just because they were overplayed doesn't mean they arn't good songs. .Exactly.BOBD is one of the better songs on American Idiot, in my view. And I don't really give a fuck if these people think they're the biggest fans and whatnot. Agija
Once a guy I know quite well was singing a few lines of American Idiot. I knew he was just laughing about Green Day, but asked if he likes them. The guy: Yeah, I'm a huge fan of Green Day.Me: Really? I though you hate them...He: No, no.. their songs are awesome.Me: Which ones do you like the best? He: Erm... well... American Idiot...Me: Is it the only one you know? He: Isn't it the only one? *takes up singing AI*
farley drexel hatcher
I have had people assume i'm emo or something for liking Green Day lol (i'm not, by the way, not remotely)But then, these are people that don't even really know what emo is, let alone who Green Day really are.And I've had people assume that I only American Idiot before, as well.A few months after American Idiot was out, I was on the computer in the library and some guy came and set next to me and was all, "Is that Green Day? They're a good band, Dookie is an excellent record"And I just said "Yeah, I really like Warning at the minute."Then he said, "I hated Warning. And the new album (meaning AI). I haven't heard the whole album though."So I said "How can you hate it if you haven't heard it?" and he didn't have a response XDIt was as if he was trying to 'out do' me or something by mentioning Dookie right away and didn't like it that I seemed to know as many songs by the band as he did; he assumed I was into AI and nothing else just because I was a lot younger than him.
