Green Day.

My graduations next year (I'm at University though) and I don't really care about it tbh. If next year the opputunity came upto see them then I'd take it without a second thought. A band I've loved for 8 years of my life, who've brought me up when I've been at my lowest, who inspired me to start playing an instrument, why would I give that chance up for a graduation? Especially if they split and never toured again, I'd never forgive myself for it. I still kick myself for not going to the American Idiot tour.

Anyway yeah, Green Day. They can post me my degree!

That's actually a really hard decision but in the long run I'd do graduation because you only have it twice (high school and college), whereas Green Day would probably come back in future years.

Though I would hate sitting and waiting to get my diploma. Especially since my last name begins with an "S" so I'd be there foooorrreeevvveerrrr. But Graduation definitely, It's the last chance to say good-bye to your friends and such. I've worked way too hard to bail out of graduation for a gig. Yes, Green Day is one of my favorite bands, but chances are I'm going to end up in California anyway so I'd be able to see them.

I'd much rather smelling like shit, pushed and knocked around while losing it to a band that I love, than going sitting with people ive known and despised for years and being clean. At least id feel comfortable at a show.

Agree :)

I mean

I love Green Day. Their music will ALWAYS be there. I can listen anytime to Green Day.

Graduation is only once in a lifetime. When I had my graduation, everything in my head was about that. It was amazing, great, wonderful. It was something I did.

I think Green Day is important because their music made me help pass through the years of school...and it relaxed me and I had the coolest time listening to them...and all that was for my graduation, so I think they're both impoirtant...just that in diferent aspects.

I'd rather see a gig with the guys... the graduation stuff in my country is just a prom and then a "formal" thing in the classroom the next day. Can always skip stuff like that, but never a gig by Green Day=)

Graduation isn't for you, it's for your parents and family to come and be proud of you and take pictures and shit. This is especially true if you went to a private school, they paid for your education, you could at least give them the few hours it takes.

Agreed. I think it would be damn selfish of me to choose going to a concert over graduation when my parents and grandparents would be so disappointed. Especially since I worked damn hard in school to get good grades to be in the top 10 students, meaning I would be in the first 10 people whose names are called and get recognition for my class rank, which would make my family really proud.

My graduation is next weekend and I know its the last time I will see a lot of people, I don't want to miss out on that and have all my friends wondering why I'm not there.

  • 2 weeks later...
I could speak English fluently, and French pretty damn near.

No, I don't expect everyone to do the same as me. Although, on a predominantly English speaking forum, you'd expect competency with the language.

And I was actually taking the piss because his post had nothing to do with the topic, not his language skills.

my post HAD something to do to the post:

Green Day vs. Graduation

mhm Green day couse:

1. they have never in Norway

2. my mom is a fan so i can skip Graduation

Well I was willing to miss Prom to see them...by using the money for a dress for a plane ride to Cali instead, and I would have gone if the damn venue wasn't a 21+ bar. So I'd miss graduation, too. Which was just on Sunday but I would have willingly missed it to see my band.

Even if it was My Chemical Romance, I would still go to graduation over seeing a band. I wouldn't spend that much of my life in school to not go to it. Especially since my parents are counting on me to be the intelligent sibling that does something with my life.

I'm from America. The protest was in the UK and besides this being off topic, it was against the Daily Fail. I only used them as an example because I figured it was pretty well known here that I was more into MCR than Green Day.

Green Day without doubt. You don't even get a real diploma at graduation, it's just for show and pictures.

if I was sat at graduation knowing Green Day were playing in my area, I'd just sulk anyway and have a crpa time

if were at a Green Day show, front row as always :P, I wouldn't think twice about graduation

so i guess it would be Green Day :D

The last time I responded to this thread was the same day I found out about the FHT's show at the Roxy.

At the time, I had said that I'd sacrifice my graduation for green day without hesitation.

But as it would turn out, I would actually have to sacrifice a test in order to see that show, which had the potential to fuck up my grades big time.

Not exactly about graduation, but what this thread comes down to is priorities. And green day has priority over my education, no matter what.

I don't even think I'll go to my college graduation. Once the degree is earned, that's all that matters to me or my mom. She values the fact that I actually get the degree much more than any ceremonial purpose, which is why she let me just get a GED instead of finishing high school. Neither of my parents ever attended a prom or graduation (though they both have degrees).
