Always nice to see some recognition for the boys

Ha ha you certainly can tell this is an American compiled list. The radio station should be called Dad Rock FM.

Bon Jovi and 2 Lynyrd Skynyrd in the top 30

FREEEEE BIRD!

Is She Really Going Out With Him is such a badass tune.

Am I the only person who sang that as soon as I saw that post?

Anyway, cool news.

Returning to my old point about Smells Like Teen Spirit; I'm now in a suitable mood to talk about it without swearing.

It's the 'default' song that always tops every list. Why? It's got the simplest, boringest melody and a mildly interesting guitar riff that gets boring after about 6 seconds. You can't understand a word the guy is singing. But because Kurt Cobain is dead, he's become some sort of enigmatic messiah whose songs, "like, speak to me so much man". Why not flip it round, have Pearl Jam's Alive top of the list. That would be fucking hilarious, purely for the line, 'I'm still alive'. And because Cobain hated Pearl Jam.

Cue loads of little 12-year olds wetting themselves in indignation. I've got no problem with Kurt Cobain as a person, he was in an OK band and was by all accounts a nice guy. But he's become some sort of demi-god for no reason whatsoever. Even Dave Grohl said, 'Kurt was just a man'.

Honestly, if you filled a room with 50 volunteers and played Smells Like Teen Spirit on a continous loop for a few hours, I reckon about half of them would have lost their minds with boredom, and the other half would have lost their will to live altogether.

^ Perfect analysis of that song!

However I think this list was compiled through airplay or some other statistic, not through someone's choice. It is chosen by journalists and in polls alarmingly and annoyingly regularly though. Plus there's plenty of other dodgy songs included in this list :D

Why is it 933, and not 1,000, for example?

Maybe they can't count till 1,000?

I was happy to see that Nirvana is the 1st one. But that's all. :/

As you say, it's a dad rock list.

I only skimmed it, but I could pick only about 20 or so songs that i'd listen to.

In a list of 933 songs, that's quite something.

I didn't even read into it. Yeah, it's not a poll. But it's still pointless.

933 songs? come on now.

I agree w/ you.

Yeah, I was giggling at some of the numbers that you said were Green Day, but wound up... not. I can understand how you messed that up though. With that many songs to sift through to find Green Day, it's understandable someone would get some of the numbers they're at wrong.
