says who?

Says someone who knows what real good music is....

How many people my age out there prefer Queen, Led Zeppelin, and the Beatles over Fall Out Boy, Panic at the Disco, and Simple Plan?

Few... right?

And I'm not targeting this at anyone here. I'm just insulting those stupid kids I have the misfortune of knowing that like that shit.

God, if no one gets this, they have to be stupid:

When did I claim that I am an expert? I am NOT an expert. Seriously, if you think Queen and the Beatles aren't considered "good," you have to be insane!

I respect other peoples' taste in music whether I think it's crappy or not. I just wish that the youth nowadays would learn to appreciate even better music like QUEEN AND THE BEATLES! If it weren't for these guys, we wouldn't even have bands like fucking Fall Out Boy or My Chemical Romance!

That's all I'm trying to say here! I'm not insulting anyone's musical tastes... Jeez....

I think you misinterpreted what I said... or perhaps I don't really know how to properly express myself....

I meant that I appreciate bands that have paved the way for the many new bands we see today (I have mentioned a few of them in my previous post). And that I wish other people my age would do the same.

That's all.

Now please stop bashing me.

How do you know young people don't appreciate older bands, have you done some sort of survey?

You don't have to listen to or even like a band to appreciate them.

My friend and I actually did a survey at my school last year:

47% appreciated old bands

80% preferred new bands over old ones.

I'm not saying these statistics apply to every kid around the world, I'm just saying that I don't see many kids that appreciate old bands nowadays... it's just a mere assumption here.

Not listening to an old band doesn't necessarily mean you prefer listening to new bands.

I don't listen to the Beatles, but I also don't listen to Fall Out Boy. I don't like their music, and don't pretend to. How long a band has been around makes no difference to the actual quality of music. Sure, I do listen to older bands more, but I won't refuse to listen to a new band if I like the music.

Anyway, I was about thirteen when I first heard Green Day. It was the song Holiday, and to be honest, the music video didn't interest me at all at first. It was the music which made me wanna buy the album, then all the other ones.

And whoever said people who don't look into a band's history are annoying, I agree. My mate was listening to a Sum 41 CD in the car, and when she got out she was like, "THAT was Sum 41? But it was all heavy and shit!" I was like, if you'd fucking listen to a song other than In Too Deep, you'd have found that out for yourself.

it's not about age, it's about type of person.

im fifteen and fairly taken aback by that, i don't think the 200+ records accumulated in my bedroom due to pretty artwork.

preferring new bands doesn't mean you don't appreciate new ones.

and how do you measure who falls into each category?

i'd take the clash over blink182 anyday, but i'd also take anti-flag over generation X.

and what constitues something as old? what category does sonic youth fall under, or better, neil young?

don't get me wrong, i think its great to conduct surveys and find stuff out for yourself, thats just kind of.. vague.

127%?

almost posted that myself, but then although i'm sure the statistic was made up on the spot, the two statistics were of serperate yes or no questions, eg,

1) do you prefer new bands? - 80% yes

2) do you appreciate old bands? 47% yes

as aforementioned, i'm sure it was made up, but in the event that it's not, thats probably what it meant.

I understand that completely, and feel the exact same way, i have plenty of The Beatles songs and plan on getting one of their albums soon, and have the Queen Platinum collection (the best one). APPRECIATE is the key word here, although i like it anyways, i appreciate most music (MOST, NOT ALL) and people have to understand that bands and people like The Beatles play a hugely key role in the evolution of music

fair play, i was slightly taking the piss as it was clearly made up on the spot (did you know that 78% of statistics are made up on the spot?)

My question is, When the hell is their new album being released? It's been four years now, AI was in 04. The clock's ticking...

Well, I got into Green Day when I was really young. I stopped listening for a while, and got into them again when I was eight. I'm twelve now and I got my brother into them when he was three. I vote yes. I think it's stupid to think that all young fans listen to bands because the members are attractive. There are some mature kids out there. I'm not the Jonas Brothers/Hilary Duff type of girl. More like AC/DC/Black Sabbath/Green Day/Dead Kennedys kind. But it seems like our population is fading. I had friends in the third grade that were just like me and as I got older, I met all kinds of new people who were the complete opposite. They were immature and listen to the average little girl disney pop music. Stereotypes suck. :[

If people think Green Day's album will even be out with in a year, they're delusional. FHT may be a side project, but it was produced and written all the same. Stop Drop and Roll is all you get right now.

I doubt there will ever be a new album. Green Day will probably go on tour as FHT, play a few Green Day songs along the way, make another Bullet in a Bible thing and suck in the dollars. They know any work as "Green Day" will just be overshadowed by American Idiot. That's why they're FHT now. Same reason they did the Network before, they were in a musical deadlock. Except this time they aren't coming out.

I honestly would rather them just be FHT from now on

I've grown bored of GD songs. They're probably bored being Green Day too (well, as we all can see)

American Idiot was the grand finale. finito caput.

or maybe they're totally gonna explode out of nowhere and have this whole new GD extravaganza!

oh well

I don't care anymore
