TheCool12 Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 http://music.ign.com/articles/871/871245p1.htmlJust a little piece on Dookie i found, the top 10 Essential Modern Punk AlbumsWhile many critics will argue that American Idiot is Green Day's strongest moment, but their 1994 breakthrough, Dookie is the true jewel in their collection. Tracks like "She" and "Basket Case" did what great songs always should always aspire to do; transcend genres. The performances jump out of the speakers in a way only a great punk band can do. This was a power-trio with all the care-free energy and chutzpah of a garage band with the recording budget a label like Warner Bros could provide. Billy Joe Armstrong might have only been about 21 years old when he wrote the record but his uncanny instinct for the craft far exceeds his age. If this album isn't in your collection, you're really missing out.
