Scared of arguements? Sorry, saying "that's my opinion" doesn't help you escape anything.

I've given about 20 minutes or less of my life to listening to FHT songs. And I have absolutely no desire to hear the Network at all.

i was trying to be polite, something im not the best at at times.

i have only heard FHT maybe once or twice.

and it's true, im scared of arguing on here okay? because i don't make many good points and i'd rather stop before i get more akward than i already am when it comes to makinng a statement.

see? im babbling right now! *fuck*

The Network is better than some Green Day, and pretty much all other Green Day related side projects all together.

However, I love that style of music, so my opinion is slightly biased.

yea...

like, basically the network is an excuse for me when people ask me if i like any other band besides green day. and at first i really didn't like TN and i thought getting the album was a big mistake, but then it got under my skin. i think i only put up with it because it was green day. now i just accept it as green day experimenting just as i would if i was listening to Warning (even though warning is better by far).

I'm wondering, John, why you won't give The Network and PG and the like the time of day. I mean, that's cool, we're all open to objective opinion, but do you completely disregard them out of a belief that the side projects are self-indulgent? Or is it something else? Because, I mean, you're missing out on some fucking kickass music.

Some of you seem to want Green Day to live forever. It's fucking cruel. It's like those fucktards who want to keep people in vegetative states alive forever. Green Day is good now, but they won't always be. Face it guys, when they get in their 40's they're going to start spiraling downhill. And they'll end up like U2, together long past their time.

Am I the only one who hopes Green Day will break up and end their career with dignity?

It's kind of where I was coming from in my original post. One of the (many) reasons The Beatles broke up was from the mere fact of having to be 'The Beatles'. It's why I keep questioning people as to what exactly they think a Green Day album constitutes, because it sure as fuck seems like they're unwilling to let these guys stray from whatever that is.

I think the internet offers a whole other way to go forward. It doesn't have to be a big-production album every few years, it could be a few tracks whenever they come, it could be more experimentation, and maybe an album whenever. I think if a fanbase would like a band to continue, they should be open to stuff like that.

So, you don't like any other bands besides Green Day or The Network?

They aren't completely terrible now, no. That, however, is beside the point. Have they done anything recently that is especially good? Not really. Fact is, if they retired long ago, we wouldn't really be missing out on much.

Either way, I will always love their earlier stuff, especially War and Joshua Tree.

well, it's sorta stupid.

i got into green day 2 years ago, and since then i have been trying to cram 17 years worth into 2 years. Trying to listen/memorize all those songs took a long time, and it was my main focus.

dont get me wrong, i enjoy other bands, other songs, but they're basically stuff i heard on TRL back in early 2006. im not a fan of '07/'08 music.

call me stupid- hell i know i would- but i mean it litterally when i always say "green day's the only thing i know".

see U2 had two good albums.

How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb and All that You Can't Leave Behind.

they were really good albums.

they're just playing random shows now and getting ready for another album.

Both those albums are mediocre.

Because I can't listen to every band in the world. My Limewire is burning hot from downloads. I have enough songs for the RIAA to call for my execution and my friends are constantly saying "You don't have this?!?!". I love all kinds of modern rock. But I can't hear everything.

And the quote above is yelling at me.

I'm about as limited as you can get. Modern rock and modern metal and modern punk. That's all I listen to, and I mean it. But you aren't "limited", you're obsessed to the point of no return.

I'd love for you to list all these "amazing songs" that make up for the large amount of filler on both albums.

Not really.

I have a perfect equilibrium between mainstream and underground, but I keep up with the times. In 5 years from now, my favorite bands will be bands that haven't formed yet.

Fillers are what drove me to illegal downloading.
