Boston
Andres, I completely agree with you. I also dislike the big-headed asshole Billie has become since 2005. I think he believes that since he did a few charity events and released a majorly popular album he's the king of the world. I much prefer their joking-mannerism from back in the day than this new "save the world" type of talk.

JakeyBoy
I've lost almost all interest. All the posters are down, except for on that has the date of when I saw them in '05. I don't care about their environment crap or whatever, it's so stupid. They sold out, simple as that.

FruscianteForPrez08
Like Andres said, pre-American Idiot they posted at LEAST 40 messages on greenday.com and were giving constant updates on what was going on. Now it's more like "meh, we're kinda in the studio, nothing really going on" and we've submitted questions to them and tried to connect to them but they just don't seem to want to... xXDissapearing.GirlXx
They're good guys. And they make quality music for constantly using power chords. I'll be the first to admit, it's hard to be incredibly into them when so little is heard about all the happenings and etc. I think the long wait and time off is very well deserved. Sure, I'd like to have the album out as fast as possible. But when you think about it quick albums usually don't go over very well (unless you're Britney Spears who can release an album a few months after getting out of rehab thanks to all the vocal editing and other people writing her songs). They toured ALOT last time around. They were doing at least twice as much of PR and interviews/guest appearances. 2004-2006 was a very busy busy time, and I think it's only fair they have some time to hunker down with their families and bask in their excellence. Plus, the more time they take to plan things out and get it all sorted, the bigger the likelyhood the album will be top quality. The last thing they need is all their fans rushing them to get through with it all. I think it would be amazing if this album topped American Idiot. There really haven't been very many recent hit albums who's follow - ups have been even better. If anything, I'm excited to hear what they come up with genre wise. So, I'm not at all upset about the wait time for the record. My posters are still up. I still wear my hoodies and stuff. And I still play their songs on guitar with my friends when I get bored. Green Day are legends. The only disappointing thing is that they seem to be more interested in politics than music at the moment. Which is fine. Whatevs. I couldn't care less if they were obsessed with oragami or something. All that matters for me is that sometime soon I get my paws on some new tunes. My iPod had threatened to shoot me if I play Nice Guys Finish Last one more time.

queso
is it their duty to keep us entertained in between CDs? that would make your job easier running the site, sure, but i dont expect them to. the only thing i expect them to do is make music and i assume that's what they're doing right now. i understand being miffed if they (or their representative) promised to do something for you (the Q&A's and the updates) and didnt follow through. i mean, duh, that sucks. but i am not, as a fan and not a website owner or whatever, expecting them to worry about whether im getting enough updates. i just want them to make music. and doesnt their secrecy make sense what with cigarettes and valentines getting stolen? if it was someone on the inside that did the stealing then i dont know how much them lying low is going to help, but i can definitely understand the instinct to be more careful now that they've gotten so famous.and i for one dont have a problem with celebs using their fame to bring attention to causes they think need attention. especially when i feel the same as they do. so yeah, no problem there. they're definitely still my #1 favorite band. i cant fucking wait for the new album

Mommy's Little Nightmare
maybe there just trying to keep hush hush because they want to surprise people on this new album,im so excited for it especially since no one has leaked anything.Well, I'm going to go ahead and guess that the reason nothing has been leaked is because there's not much TO be leaked. Last anyone heard from Billie Joe, they were going back into the recording studio this month, and all their demos and whatnot were done on keyboard/piano. So... I'm thinking they'd have to have something alot more solid before any leaking would occur.
parinaz
i still love them we should wait for the new album, and also the new photo shots...it's annoying to wait 4 years (and maybe more) for new materiali DO agree!the didnt even reply to our Q&A.there was so many article came up about them not ready to release the album, expecting....expecting.... and stuff.... but i dunno, they should be a little responsible about their fans....but i hope the new material comes up this year, finally.i think the problem is that they have lots of time to attend in many shows, each of them, but they dont even find sometime to answer the Q&A when the bad pint is that they had promised to give it back on september or something.Billie, the frontman also doesn't talk much about it.this thread isant depressing at all, its the time for those who want to express their feeling towards them after 4 years of waiting -_-

Mommy's Little Nightmare
Okay, so my perspective about the whole 'neglecting their fans' thing is this: Get over it.Since when do the guys owe us ANYTHING? How many people here have said that 'Green Day saved my life', 'Green Day changed me', 'Green Day helped me through hard times', etc.? I'd imagine quite a few people have said that. If simply making their music and staying true to themselves has helped and inspired as many people as it has, why then, are so many people bitching about them losing touch? Them not updating?Them taking forever to record their album?I know damn well I've seen a ton of people make claims that Green Day have helped and inspired them in some form. So, why do they owe their fans anything? They're a band, who makes music for themselves. They've always said that they make music for themselves and if people like it: that's great. If people don't like it: that's fine too.I completely understand how frustrating it is that things that have been promised not happening are. I completely understand the disappointment there. But about things that have not been promised- who cares? They toured until the end of 2005. Early 2006 they finally started fading away. The success off of American Idiot was fucking massive- I wouldn't blame them for staying quiet for a while. I've already said this, but my God- they probably need time to recuperate and want to live as normally as they possibly can for being as famous as they are.And the charities? The guys care. They're trying to do good. They're not just talk- they're actually backing up everything they bitched about and doing what they can to try to make an impact. Good for them!So I ask: If Green Day has helped and inspired so many people in so many different ways, what then, do they actually owe to anyone? If anything, I'd say that we, as fans, owe them our support now that they're being quiet, instead of bitching about it. For a band that's influenced so many people, it seems to me alot of those same people who were influenced are turning on them.I respect the guys entirely, and I'm going to wait. They'll update if they feel like it. We'll get a new album when they think it's the best they can do. And if they want to try to help the world, I commend them even more and will support them entirely in that too.
