What are your feelings towards Green Day now?

uhh first of all, of course they tried? i never said they didn't and i don't see how that's relevant at all. i don't like the songs. when bands release bad songs, it doesn't really make me want to listen to them. what a concept!

as for the age thing, i started listening to green day, blink-182, etc. when i was about 10. back then, i thought it was awesome that they wrote songs about fucking dogs and beating off. now i think its really lame.

i never expected green day to grow as i do, the same can be said for other bands i liked years ago.

i don't see why you took exception to what i said as it wasn't different than what others have said. and i can't believe you couldn't figure that out on your own.

Yeah, but it kinda sounded like you were blaming them for releasing something that you didn't like.

They wrote songs about masturbation about 6 years before you got into them than. What I'm saying is, the Green Day that was out when you were listening to them was a completely different Green Day than Dookie.

Aside from that, they have 3 other albums between AI and Dookie, and 2 before Dookie, that I'm sure you could find some good music off. Not being a smartass, just saying that there's a lot more out there.

Actually I took exception to yours because it was in list format, therefore more enjoyable for me to read.

Their music does not differ whatsoever.

The only thing that's changed is what they write about.

It's all the same to me.

and there is a lot more out there. besides green day.

feeding the family, doing magazine shoots

You say feeding the family as if they hold second jobs or something. They have a shit load of money I'd assume, so I don't think feeding the family's an issue.

I don't think they've done "magazine shots" since the AI era. Mid '05 was the last time they might have been busy with that.

The last professional photos of the band were maybe when they covered working class hero.

I just like to argue, and you were wrong. Sorry to pick.

Very true. You never did say that. Good point.

Also true, but where this ties in is beyond me.

I'm kind of flooding this thread so if you have a response to any of this, just send it in a message.

What I mean is...compare Green Day's fee to go to their concerts with Hannah Montana's fee. Compare how they spend their money to how she spends it. Compare how much better they treat their fans to how she treats them. Get it? :)

I know nothing whatsoever about Hannah Montana, so I can't compare and I don't really care, honestly.

Shouldn't be judging Green Day by comparing them to other artists or whatever, in the first place.

When I get a gd tattoo in two months, I hope my love for them will raise again a bit. It will remember me of all the things they´ve done for me, so maybe it will make it easier for me to wait for the new record :)

I hope that is not the reason you take the tattoo, because I wouldn't take an Arsenal-tattoo in the hope I'll like them more.

you have a good point. and i guess if Green Day's manager had said that stuff directly to me i'd be disappointed that nothing ever came of it most of the time, but it doesn't bother me. i still love them. just today when i was just standing around and waiting in the rain, i was listening to them and they still have the "wow this song is really good" factor :)

Do it anyway?

It'd make me laugh if nothing else.

Green Day are old farts now

Billie's becoming Captain Planet

they need to revamp and get their butts back on tour n shit

They're still my favorite band, but I can only listen to certain songs continuously. Haven't listened to an album straight through in a long ass time

I can understand the frustration. I still love them dearly and am happy to rustle around in older news and old pictures or interviews, because there's such a breadth of stuff about them that I haven't seen yet, but it's not the same as getting even a little glimpse of something new, and knowing what they're up to. It's sort of like being cut off from some old acquaintance that you were terribly fond of.

But the flipside of it is that they are so well known now that even the tiniest mention of something they're up to is like a "shot heard round the world," which is partly why they can't just give us something silly to chew on, because it will make news all over the place. And not only that but the news venues will blow it all out of proportion, and the more it spreads the more misinformed the news becomes, like the news venues did when Andres posted his update from their management, which I think he was right to post.

Looking for news to post on GDA is frustrating because it's like looking for needles in a haystack, but then you post something and it gets too big right away: I posted the new t-shirt designs in the last update and the designer took them down from his site, presumably because they were getting too much attention. It's like a no-win.
