armatageshanks
Someone mentioned that Green Day has given us some stuff like remastered albums...well it's actually the other way around, WE gave them the money so WE could buy the same album that WE have already got (in better quality...ish) because WE are idiots. That BY FAR is a money making scam, it reminds me of Michael Jackson re-releasing all his shit because he's broke, also theres a comedian over here called Peter Kay who keeps recycling all of his old material and has done so for the past 3-4 years. Green Day in that sense is no different to these "people". Green Day do not respect their fans, during the AI tour, they did the EXACT same routine (the hitchin a ride wanking thing, the watergun, King for a Day shit) as they did during Warning and even sometime before that. Don't believe me? Watch Reading Festival 2001, then watch BIAB. They don't have the decency to respect their old fans either, they filled their setlist with all this anti-bush garbage and it would have been nice to see something from Kerplunk or a few more from Dookie, Insomniac or Nimrod. I dont give a shit that i'm ranting in multiple posts, delete them for all I care (it's what this forum used to do). I'm not saying this because i'm against Green Day because its the new thing to do, everyone hates them blah blah blah. I'm doing this because i'm actually very upset and frustrated having been a fan ALL MY LIFE, can you imagine that? I bet I can barely count the people on this forum who have actually been a fan all their lives on one hand. That's not the issue, not how long you've known them. It feels like Green Day have disrespected me for the last time, I won't be buying their next album, I haven't been keeping watch of all the updates until today and I have realised that Green Day are full of shit. I don't think they have any songs (any good songs anyway) there is no way they can break the fame they got from AI. They're keeping YOU all on your toes, they expect you to want and wait for it...what does this remind me of? Chinese Democracy (guns n roses). But hey, at least Axl is decent enough for an update even if he is a bullshitter. Anyone remember when Blink 182 brought out their last album? They had video updates and everything, I felt I couldn't get enough of them, they were VERY fan friendly and WEREN'T in it for the money (Tom was though heh.) Even the Killers give nice little updates and don't keep us waiting for years and years. Green Day can suck my gigantic black balls. I hate them.nice work, sir.i applaud that. klytaemnestra
plus Billie annoys the hell out of me, and I get the impression that Gerard Way is going down the same path.same, like Billie keeps/kept [whatever, idc] going on about how great AI was in interviews, like explaining the whole concept 8974397492347 times, and now Gerard's doing the same with TBP [i know i'm going off topic but still], it's really fucking annoying. :/

British Idiot
Shit there's some hardcore teenage angst on this site.Green Day are a band. They record records, they tour and that's it. They are also human beings, with families, friends, a life. They toured American idiot seriously hard for well over a year without a break. They have since taken some time off to see their families, recharge their batteries and begin work on writing new material. During this time, they haven't done much publicity...the reason being that they are a band, not celebrities. They're writing an album. What more do you need to know? I personally don't feel I need a band to be holding my hand and putting up new crazy blog entries every day just to keep me interested. If they go quiet for a while, it only makes it more exciting when news starts re-emerging and the build up to a new album begins. I'm interested in their music, not what they had for breakfast each day.As for re-releasing remastered versions of their old albums. The albums moved from Lookout! to Warner. It is quite common for old albums recorded cheaply to be remastered to improve quality for fans. It was not simply a money making exercise. Old fans who perhaps already have the albums are under no obligation to buy them again. But for new fans (of which there were many after American Idiot) it gives them the opportunity to find and listen to Green Day's old material and ensures it's sounding its very best.Charity singles are for charity. It's highly regulated and they cannot be promoted as such or called charity singles if they are not. You can be confident the money went to charity. If Green Day were really interested in just making money and being mega rockstars which strategy would be the best. A) to quickly release an album in 2006 whilst still riding on the huge wave of interest after American Idiot. OR B) go quiet for 2 years whilst writing a new album of artistic merit that they're pleased with. If it was all about making money they would have released an album asap after American Idiot to cash in on their fame and success at that time.Green Day would be disrespecting their fans a lot more if they rushed out any old shit record to make money. To say they are disrespecting you because they are taking time out to see their family and write a record they are pleased with is ridiculous.Since American Idiot we have had 2 charity singles, 2 album re-releases. A new band called Foxboro Hot Tubs (given away FREE). Also they have given the odd interview to the press saying what they're up to, being in the studio, having 3 albums worth of material etc. What more do you really expect??!!If you no longer like Green Day's music fair enough. But to add all this shit about them being disrespectful, cashing in on deaths in Iraq etc. is just ridiculous. If you don't like them move on, find a new band and shhhhhhhhh. allenxtreme
I dont want to move on, infact I want explanations from Green Day, as do the rest of their old fans. How can I be confident that the money went to charity...take your word for it? I'd rather not. Lucky though, i wasn't bought into that shit and didn't feel the need to download or buy them. This topic was about how we are feeling about Green Day, it wasn't called "Kiss Green Day's Ass" or even "I hate Green Day" I was getting my point across about how I feel about them, so I won't SHHHH. Do as the topic says and give your feelings about them, if not...SHHH yourself. Thank you.
Trotsky
I don't see why some of you feel like you need to be "loyal" to Green Day. If you don't like the wait, you don't have to pretend you do. If the new album sucks, you don't have to appreciate it. You don't have to give any support for the band if they disappoint you. Listen to the music you like, don't listen to the music you don't like, and don't be afraid to let go of being a "fan" and just listening to a song you like from them every once in awhile.I dont want to move on, infact I want explanations from Green Day, as do the rest of their old fans. How can I be confident that the money went to charity...take your word for it? I'd rather not. Lucky though, i wasn't bought into that shit and didn't feel the need to download or buy them. Idiot teens don't realize there is no way to "save Darfur", unless we want to start another war.Charity singles are for charity. It's highly regulated and they cannot be promoted as such or called charity singles if they are not. PumpkinPieMF
I love Green Day.. a lot, but I really don't listen to them as much as I did a year ago when I had recently discovered them..and even though I don't listen to them much now, I think I love and respect them now more than ever.It doesn't really make any sense to me, but maybe you understand what I mean
EmmaLovesGreenDay
That's just because you're in BJ's pants. He got the same questions over and over again, what was he suppose to do?No, actually its 'cause I respect them and I know that if they are happy with what they come out with, I'm happy. I don't have a problem with waiting ages for an album, thats what makes it more exciting, god, so much negative-ness on here
Trotsky
I think the fact that they've taken so long is significant to an extent. I'm over Green Day. Been over them for a year. Usually, with bands like My Chemical Romance, I'll get totally sick of them and then if I go a month or 2 without hearing them at all, they'll sound cool again. I don't even like the old stuff anymore. It's an old stage of my life and I'm behind it. Just like when I was 13 and 14 I was obsessed with Slipknot. I still love metal, but I hate Slipknot now and basically think it sucks.People move on. Green Day knows it too. They don't care about impressing the most dedicated fans, they care about selling more albums. Look at International Superhits. What a waste of money, yet a million fans who had every single album bought it anyway.
