And the other interesting thing is totally bypassing mainstream media. It's kind of the polar opposite of when they appeared on American Idol, which was largely misunderstood by people. They do something anonymous, leave it to the fans - and we just get it. Aw fuck, they blow me away, lol!

That's great too. *sigh*.

Well it was on the radio but... as like a newcomer, people's choice thing.

But I love that analogy. :o.

Jeez, once again, I agree, I agree! I can't believe how they keep doing it, too - the blowing me away part. I have to say tho - we fans are pretty great fans. :)

Yeah we are! I was just looking at all the creepy eyeballs on their myspace page and was laughing because I was thinking to Friday when they added me I was like their 53rd friend, profile had less than 100 views and less than 60 plays on their songs. My how things have changed!!! :) Look at how crazy we are!

Random note: I am sending messages to my local stations giving them the news about FHT and telling them to play them.

Yeah. People talk about the relationship with the fans but I think it requires a certain balance between creating the best art that they can and giving the best attitue toward the creation...

Screw FHT and the Network, I need to see Green Day in concert!

I thought that went without saying! The last time I saw GD live in November 2005 is honestly the best day of my life, but I think I would die on the spot to see GD supported by The Network and/or FHT .......

They SHOULD all do a show together (Green Day, The Network and FHT). That would be one amazing show! BJ would be seriously poofed after singing three bands worth of songs though!

oh and they intro'd it as "green day's new side project" and talked about how they're probably using it to test out new sounds or something like that...

UGH! Why do people keep saying that?!?! And I know it's not you, Skippy, you were just quoting the radio people... but seriously! When has Green Day ever felt any need to "test" their music with the public before releasing an album or deciding what direction to go? They are going to do their thing no matter what, they always have and they always will. It also frustrates me so much when people say that Money Money 2020 was compiled of songs that "weren't good enough" for American Idiot, or that Reprise Records rejected the album. That's so friggin' stupid. That was not a Green Day record, there were so many themes of technology and sexual overtones. It was so obviously written seperately from Green Day's material, I just don't understand why people don't get it.

And now, how can anyone say that these Foxboro songs aren't good enough for a new Green Day record and that's why they've been released like this? First of all, the songs are fantastic. Second, the themes and writing style with both the music and the lyrics aren't Green Day. That's what makes it a side project. And I know that Green Day can and will write different types of songs and lyrics spanning many different topics, but this was just so intentionally 60's.

Lastly, for those who still doubt that this can be a Green Day side project (or at least Billie Joe), have another listen to On the Wagon, Last Ride In, and their cover of Tired of Waiting for You. Yes Billie's vocals are very different on this new EP, but again, it's intentionally 60's and intentionally not Green Day.

*takes a breath*

You know, saying thtat they're "testing out new sounds" or what have you doesn't mean that it's supposed to be "not good enough" it's just that it allows them more license and freedom with their style and sound, because they seem to want to maintain a certain relative purity, where Green Day's songs have a certain sound, a certain feel, a certain appeal to them. And with each side project they do, they do it without the intention of trying to sound "Green Day", although they do sound like them because that's inevitable, the same artists aren't going to produce wholly different results just because they're in a different context... but ultimately they are just flexing their creative muscles. Which I think is fantastic. Not being able to do that is what causes a lot of bands to break up, and I think it's fantastic that Green Day are close enough and trust ech other enough to not only not let that hurt their relationship and their congruity, but to help it. I think it's just another extension of what they always say about having to be honest with each other. They have to be honest with their audience, too. Show us what they've got.

I personally like the music, but I have to ask.

If this project wasn't Green Day related, would you guys still like the music? Be honest.

Yes i'd still like the music, but I wouldn't have heard of them if they weren't Green Day related. So kind of a yes/no answer thing going on there aha

I am now convinced that Billie Joe is singing Red Tide...while getting a Blow Job

Jim Morrison received one while recording and that was in the 60's and well they are trying to recreate that era.

Freddie Mercury received a blow job while writing Bohemian Rhapsody at a glass piano the same piano Motley Crue and other famous bands years later did drugs off at RJB's party's and such. :P
