Someone who also happens to require copious indulgence in said appreciation.

;)

They probably should have made a church of Lustotology too. :P

XD I see.

Maybe it's the musical-loving side of me but I love the theatrics of it all. Somehow in its absurdity I find it brilliant. And the way there's one on every track just... I don't know. Makes it more congruent.

I think it makes them into separate little packages. Y'know, I love punk because it's completely uncynical - and these songs are uncynical, there's nothing arch about them, and yet the clips are sending up the sentiment in them somewhat.

I dunno, haha. I think it's totally a matter of perspective and perception here. I'd ask the band for their input but I'm sure it would be inconclusive. (That's really not a bad thing here). I don't think there's supposed to be an aim to the songs. They are what you make them I think.

They added another picture of another person. I figured out that whoever posts pics of themselves with a Foxboro shirt on gets put up there I think. 'Cause the guy whose picture is up now posted it in the comments earlier, seeming like a random dude.

Oh, and today their friend theme is eyes.

Yeah.

I wonder what they would do if a chick put her picture up there... :ninja:.

the afternoon radio show on my fav radio station played some of their music this afternoon and said it "wasn't bad" which means it was good cuz they never like anything

oh and they intro'd it as "green day's new side project" and talked about how they're probably using it to test out new sounds or something like that...

Yup, that's what most people are figuring :).

And of course what better way to do it than throw it into the masses and let word of mouth, not money, not labels, not packaged publicity reign supreme.

I've been wondering if they would play any of it on the radio - I haven't heard it yet myself, so that's cool!

Another mtv update...

Nothing we don't already know, but interesting to read anyway. :)

Wanna hear something funny?

SOMETHING FUNNY:

Since I first commented Foxboro Hot Tubs profile's pictures, and was the first to comment about 5 pictures, my myspace profile views have gone up by a good 500-1000.

It doesn't do that regularly.

My sister said Highway 1 was on the radio and I missed it D<.

And it was against Avenged Sevenfold and it lost in the people's choice.

Dammit ljadfldk.

Thanx for the heads up - I just went and downloaded the clean version. I'd been listening to the download Andres gave originally because as I said before, I feel like the clips slant the way you hear the song - for me, 'jump right into each song' is exactly right!

Besides that, I think the clips really stamped the whole thing as kitsch, and this isn't kitsch, despite the wrappings - these songs are as real and beautiful as always. The only one I like and I'm gonna keep is Red Tide - that just somehow works, it catches the mood of the song instead of putting a spin on it.

Are the ones with the clips still attached here somewhere? I guess I can go through 58 pages... :D

Also, wasn't this story originally from buzznet? http://www.buzznet.com/tags/greenday/journals/1437421/

It says "We discovered this news based on a tip from a source close to Green Day," which makes it sound like it was planned to make sure everyone knew about this right away and that there was a huge buzz and excitement all over the media and internet about it.

Woo! They just played Green Day on the radio and now they're like "And this is Green Day's new secret side project "Foxboro Hot Tubs".

And now they're playing them! *spazz*

They played Highway 1. They said "I dig it. I can hear the Green Day. Its not quite like their old stuff but I still like it."

FHT exploded fast.

DUDE.

Wow.

And apparently Highway 1 is the "single" o_O.

Which is weird because anyone can listen to any of the songs and play it as much as they want on CDs for free... xD.

But yeah, it definitely exploded. This is really fun. -geeks out-

I've noticed this side band has brought in a few more teenies already... geez.. This band was discovered just a few days ago. That was really fast.

Why does the MySpace now have band members on it? Do you think those are just random pictures? Not directed right at you by the way. :)

I just remembered that clip from the RS interview, where Billie Joe talked about having to be very creative in how you put a record out - to give people an experience, make it memorable. I'm thinking that maybe attaching the clips was an experiment in adding another dimension to downloaded music - and despite the fact that I didn't like them, I think it's way cool they're playing around with stuff like this. Next thing will all the better! :)

The pictures are random people I believe. The second picture posted on there was originally posted in their comments by some random guy. So yeah..

And they keep advertising FHT on my radio station.

See, there you go. And that's an excellent point, seriously. Well they're doin a great fucking job. That's a great quotation to pull out right about now XD. They're creative in the way they put it out, too. No ads, no purchasing songs, no nothing... once word got out it was up to the fans, and the blogs. And it's... well it's amazing.

And the pictures are pictures of fans who put them on he comments.

Yeah, I was thinking about it on the level of the songs - l tend to be focused on the songs, always! - but then I realised, the whole experience has been such a buzz, coming from within the fanbase rather than the fans being sold at by the industry.

Yes exactly. I think that's exactly why everyone's still so thrilled about it. The songs themselves are addicting. At face value that's enough to get a buzz going. But added to the mystery or mystique about it, the way it came into being, and the amount of attention it's gotten, mostly from fans, is just monumental, and I think it plays a major role in the sustained excitement.
