I just realized they took the picture off of the weird creepy guy that they put on there last night. The one wearing the t-shirt.

So Rob is the Foxboro's manager's kid? Sorry, I'm lost; And lazy as fuck.

Did anyone notice, how when you download all the songs from FoxboroHotTubs.Com, they no longer have the spoken clips at the beginnings? It just jumps right into each song!

My Dad said they had to remove the sound clip bits because they didn't get the copyright permissions to use them. XD;

Poor Foxboro/Green Day. You guys are awesome as fuck, but the man will always get 'ya in the end.

._.;

Thanx for the heads up - I just went and downloaded the clean version. I'd been listening to the download Andres gave originally because as I said before, I feel like the clips slant the way you hear the song - for me, 'jump right into each song' is exactly right!

Besides that, I think the clips really stamped the whole thing as kitsch, and this isn't kitsch, despite the wrappings - these songs are as real and beautiful as always. The only one I like and I'm gonna keep is Red Tide - that just somehow works, it catches the mood of the song instead of putting a spin on it.

When will we find out that it's actually them? or will we never?

I don't think there can be any doubt, that voice couldn't belong to anyone else :)

I think it's Green Day because in the beginning of Highway 1 Tre adds to what he said at the ending of Chocolate Rain. Probably Tre was going to practice Highway 1 after Chocolate Rain because he said at the end of Chocolate Rain but the beginning of Highway 1. Maybe Green Day is working with another band like they did with U2. If it isn't Green Day, maybe a band who was fans of Green Day recorded Billie's voice and set it up in the album so that it will sound like them. I'm probably confusing everybody, but yeah. :mellow:

In Highway 1, that's not Tré, it's one of the guys from the Troggs. There's an audio track of them all arguing about musical production and artistic conflicts, and at one point that comes up. It's where Tré got it from, but that's not Tré speaking ^^.

As to whether they're Green Day or not... well I think people care because well most certainly it has the appearance of being Green Day and if it were someone else just passing themselves off as such, that would be a pretty asinine thing to do... and it also matters because it means that this is another indicator of what they're capable of - whatever the hell they want to be - and what Billie is vocally capable of. We'd definitely had a good idea of it previously but this just broadens that range (at least as I see it) even further so we know even less what to expect from the next album, except for it to be impressive.

As for the clips, I thought they were good. That's the version that I have... and I'm keeping it. To me I don't think it's kitsch, I think it's just a chuckle that the band inserts into the release. The whole thing is very stylized - hell, look at the cover, will you? - and I think it's just a part of that. Much like the Network has a persona, an exaggerated image, this would be them taking it to the extreme, really having fun with it, and they don't feel like they have to hold back or try to hide anything or moderate anything because they do it with a touch of anonymity. And a hell of a lot of style (as to how they present it, that is).

If you mean will Green Day ever confirm it...well, they're still trying to deny they're in the Network, aren't they?

I think the fact that they had to have a show where the Network played for Green Day in order to "show the feud was settled" means they're never going to confirm it.

Maybe it's like the whole St. Jimmy/ Jesus of Suburbia thing. You know... they're the same but then they're also different... :ninja:

Everyone has their own response to stuff. I dunno - for me, they were too gimmicky, and they got in the way of the music. Like, where there's the little clip from the Look for Love interview before Maria on ISH, it's kind of charming and the song bounces right off 'wonderful!' and into the riff - that's continuity, because it basically speaks Billie Joe's journey - and then I forget it and go with the song. The Foxboro clips were exterior and seemed to impose themselves on the songs - and again, this is just for me.

Yeah, no, I can definitely see what you mean by it, I just see it as more of a snide remark as well as an introduction to what's going on in the song. Make sense? xP.

And I think the one for Highway 1 is perfect... actually I think they're all pretty great for it. *shrug* They're the artists, though, it's their discretion.

I went back and listened to that one, and I agree with you - it has the 'bounce' factor, and it's also brief, unlike the rant at the beginning of She's a Saint. I also think having one for every track is overkill.

Whatever, it's just my response, and most of those clips irritated the fuck out of me, lol! Then again, every time I see a vid of The Network, I wanna go 'take the fucking masks off and just sing the song!' :D

XD I see.

Maybe it's the musical-loving side of me but I love the theatrics of it all. Somehow in its absurdity I find it brilliant. And the way there's one on every track just... I don't know. Makes it more congruent.

When I see a Network vid all I think is 'whats with the lesbians, is Tré in charge of marketing?'

Funny, I always suspected Tre was behind those videos too XD

Lesbians, lingerie-wearing vampires, topless women...I think someone is a fan of the female form. :o
