stop drop and roll sounds fun to play on guitar, so i thought i'd be helpful for a change!

this is all for a standard tuned guitar, if youre a half step down or whatever just knock all the numbers up one.

sounds like its going through a really good valve amp, pretty retro. (eg, not a line 6, and if its a marshall probably not an mg)

not that that matters, im just working out as much as i can.

INTRO

D5 C5 D5 C5

E--------------------------------

B--------------------------------

G-7-7-7-7-7-5---7-7-7-7-7-5-

D-7-7-7-7-7-5---7-7-7-7-7-5-

A-5-5-5-5-5-3---5-5-5-5-5-3-

E---

VERSE

C5 D5

E---------

B---------

G-5-5-5-7

D-5-5-5-7

A-3-3-3-5

E---------

sixteen and a sun-na-va bitch!

C5 D5

E---------

B---------

G-5-5-5-7

D-5-5-5-7

A-3-3-3-5

E---------

got a gun and an' a etc...

CHORUS does the same kind of thing as the verse, with a few chords in between.

anyone who can work out what those chords are go for it, i'm a bit knackered so this is just bits i could hear really clearly..

solo sounds like it's around the 12 fret b string/7th fret e string in a pentatonic or major scale

if you just wanna jam along to it, try b pentatonic, it sounds really good with it

how to play b pentatonic:

e-----------------------7-10-

b------------------7-10------

g--------------7-9-----------

d----------7-9----------------

a------7-9---------------------

e-7-10-------------------------

these are all 5th chords, if you're playing the song on an acoustic it might sound nicer with just open c and d chords.

enjoy!

feel free to correct me or add to the chorus or tab the solo or whatever, i'm pretty sure what i have tabbed is correct though.

OMG, I can't stop listening to this stuff! I love it so much!!! I put it on, and my daughter said, 'Is that Billie Joe?' :D

That stuff has made me pick up a guitar for the first time in weeks, and I've managed to get a song together.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this yet, but the main/opening riff of "She's a Saint Not a Celebrity" sounds a lot like the main riff from "Right Hand-A-Rama." Just a little more proof for the unconvinced...

That's just crazy though. Mike was definitely in The Network. Sure, there was plaster over 'Van Gough's' face, but it was still very clearly Mike-shaped plaster. And the voice... that was definitely his, you could just tell, because it wasn't too far off from his speaking voice.

Yup definately Mike, I'd know that ass anywhere.....

Same with the Foxboro harmonies and melodic bass, who else?

here is my attempt at tabs for two of them. One was by ear and the other was by a video i saw:

Stop drop and roll: Intro

e-----------

b-----------

g-55555-3- repeat as needed

d-55555-3-

a-33333-1-

e-----------

Verse:

e----------

b----------

g-3~-4-5-

d-3~-4-5-

a-1~-2-3-

e----------

the chorus ('I dont wanna run down'(?)) is just basically the same a the intro.

I'm not clever enough to do the solo!

and mother mary:

e----------------------------------------------------------

b----------------------------------------------------------

g---------------666-666-66---------------999-999-99-

d-777-777-77-666-666-66-999-999-99-999-999-99-

a-777-777-77-444-444-44-999-999-99-777-777-77-

e-555-555-55---------------777-777-77---------------

i think the verse is just x577xx and 577xxx.

that is about all i can do.

Yeah, I noticed that! made me giggle at the clues!

They always seem to go for a Beatles melody... but I'm really psyched about Stop Drop & Roll because of that rockabilly sound. *is huge fan of rockabilly* It's very Brain Setzer.

I am hearing a bit of Elvis in that song, too - maybe it's just me? I'm loving every one of them!! *buring cds for the car, kitchen, etc...* :D

oh good! Whew! I thought it was just me cause I didn't read anyone else mentioning it. There are so many influences heard in these songs, but they are also so wonderfully original and just wonderful, lol!! One listen, and I was hooked.

I love the sound as well - I love the lyrics, too, so much! I'm itching for new GD stuff, but I'm so glad they keep giving us these little gifts. Thank you, thank you, thank you FHT, whoever you are!

Also some Warning sounds in there, like the opening riff for Mother Mary.

The voice on Red Tide is the sexiest I've ever heard Bill sing in ages. I've said it before and I'll say it again - he can sing like an angel and he can sing like a whore - sometimes on the same track! Their versatility is nothing short of incredible.
