With that many songs it'd be cool if they did a double album perhaps? I can't get my head out of those clouds.

There is a link, that gives a new twist to what he might have meant by "stagnant".

Sounds less depressing - too bad those questions are already send - as it is,it´s pick one.

http://www.gigwise.com/news/37586/green-da...-scene-stagnant

That is of course a possibility, but I still think he was talking about his own writing, not the general music scene.

But I like their version better, though - like you said, it sounds less depressing.

I find it all very confusing; why would the current music scene have anything to do with how he's writing?

It doesn't. I believe his words are being misunderstood. I don't think he meant the music scene when he used the word "stagnant," he was referring to the recording of the album.

^ Mmm - maybe he means "everything" is stagnant; the world situation, his life, and therefore his writing. Dunno.

*sigh*

I think he said a few lines about whatever he was referring to, and we can interpret it in however way we want to, just like each article seems to be doing. Here's another that talks about his 'Middle-aged' album - http://www.aversion.com/news/news_article.cfm?news_id=9456

I didn't get that out of what he said, but this author did obviously.

Now look at that

Next headline:"GD disses current music scene"

i think they are all distorting the truth

you read the original article you must felt the difference -the others make it sound like GD is hopeless and can give up any sec.!!!

i believe the GD is just trying to make a good cd so that they wont regret it in the future

we just have to wait for it :D

^ yes! I think you can read into what Billie Joe said however you want to. If you wanna see negativity there, you will.

I honestly have a lot of faith in Billie's writing. 'I'm the son of rage and love, the Jesus of Suburbia' came like a bolt of lightning to Billie, just out of the blue when he was walking one day. Billie is very creative and with Mike and Tre's input I truly think Green Day are going to put out yet another amazing album. But like all good things, it should come when it is ready. They have been around for a very long time and they know when something will work or not. If Billie is feeling like things are a little stagnant right now, that does not mean they will stay like that for a long time. His creative mind wouldn't stop for very long I'm sure.

I am sure they will put out a brilliant album that they will be proud of and that we will love. Of course there will be the people who will say it is shite, or that they are now U2, blah blah blah whatever. But the rest of us will love it as much as we loved their other albums. Green Day haven't survived this long by being second rate. They are at the top of the top and will remain there.

So, I am looking forward to this new album when eventually it comes, and I will be buying it and playing it to death, but until that happens I will continue to listen to all their other albums as I have been doing so for ages. :)

I hope I'm wrong, but this hints to me at a train to Splitsville.

That won't happen I'm sure - Green Day (along with their families) is their life - they just need to get fired up :)

You know what, it just accured to me too - this article was possibly (and probably) written in September. The interviewer might have shown up on the anniv. of Billie's fathers death.

Sorry - I'm just looking for a reason for him to sound this way! He sounds so sad...

This was a small article, though. He could've been talking for an hour (and probably was, knowing him) and Rolling Stone edited it down to this little article, picking out any discouraging parts.

I want him to take his time - god, I really don't want him to get upset trying to write! This is the guy who LOVES writing, and is so brilliant at it. He just needs to slow down - it'll come to him.

PS

What's wrong with the 45 songs already written? And not too long ago, didn't he say that the songs gave him the chills they were so good? What happened to that guy?

^ he might be upset because of his father anniversary, but remember that it's been for about 20 years or more!

it cant be the reason of his quote..

Probably some second-guessing. You do something and think it's great, then you look back on it another day and think it's crap. Your first instinct is usually the right one.

In Kerrang last december:

He says that in answer to the question ''But, more importantly, will it be as good ad 'American Idiot' ?.
