netty
Kids these days exactly!! I wont argue with a 14 year old kid. Shouldn't you be doing homework or studying for a tomorrow's test? YAY!! Green Day are ADULTS not kids. IF Green Day wants to change their fan base so they weed out poser kids like they sadly have now for some reason, then I welcome the change. AND! Red Hot Chili Peppers did great on SAgreen day dont do anything to weed out fans. the fans do that for them. the guys do what they feel good about, what satisfies them first and fore most. they have to live with the results after all. whatever they do, some fans will bitch like hell about it and others will rave. happens to every band, for every album they put out. Norm Life Baby
Mark. my. words. can't we just have another album about drugs and masturbation and.. girls and shit? meh.they're different people now, you can't just expect them to not make any progress at all towards a new sound or new way of writing songs. spark in the night
parinaz, please stop you always PM people with the most random of questionswe cant think like Green Day, we don't know what's going on in Billie's mindjust accept the fact that he's still trying to create an album and he has 45 songs done. whether songs means music or lyrics or both. just accept it as "songs"we're all just strained from the Green Day drought
Relavar
If this album is gonna be a slow, boring album, that includes a song called "Beautiful Day", I will kill myself.Mark. my. words. can't we just have another album about drugs and masturbation and.. girls and shit? meh.I would hate that. Those songs are so pointless.

midlfecrysis
It could be worse. They could all be going to rehab Just kidding. Well, for selfish reasons, I'm dissappointed there isn't more progress on the new CD. I mean I've never seen GD in concert yet. I miss hearing them, and I miss seeing them on T.V. and stuff. But I know whenever Billie is ready, it will be amazing and from his heart. Maybe he has my problem. Mid-life crisis . Although I'm 46 years old!! He just wants to be true to himself and feel truely inspired towards what he is writting. He writes music about how he is feeling, or what is happening around him. Maybe, just maybe, things are so wonderful in his life, he's not sure how to write about it. After all, in the past he has written about rage, anger, drugs, masturbation, discontent, disallousion, loss, etc. Now he seems to have it all. A loving wife and family, Recognition, Fame, Security, Contentment. Joy, and countless fans who love him. Maybe it is harder to write when everything is going well. This is just a theory I have. Anyway. It will be well worth the wait. But I do really miss seeing Billie Joe's beautiful face

Seabiscuit
I don't think Billie Joe should be thinking of the new album in comparison to American Idiot; if he tries too hard to top it, it might end up falling flat. Well, as flat as an awesome band like Green Day could possibly get. Because Green Day are not the Offspring.I was being sarcastic.
Guest 16PaperLanterns
siiiiiigh. But I'll wait. I'd rather get great music later than shitty music now.

lupy
I just find it strange that everyone else is like, woohoo! Billie Joe's going through a tough time song-wise! This article is stressing (and depressing) me, hardcore. The man doesn't need to miserable to write songs- Kerplunk! was a fairly upbeat record (and my fav. one, on a random note). And wasn't nimrod. just a random collection of songs? I didn't really see a common thread between those songs. Now I'm just complaining for no reason. But, on a positive note, I like a fairly wide range of music, so I doubt that whatever direction the band goes in will phase me. Why can't some fans on this forum understand they're not kids anymore, but adults now? And they'll continue to grow old like the rest of the world. Let their albums sound like whatever they want it to and quit panicing .
*withoutadoubt*
Maybe they'll be touring again in time for our 50th then Cheryl eh? I'm sure they'll have many tours within the next twenty years Mare. I'm not worried one bit.

Velocity
Exactly.I don't understand how people are feeling excited, reading that article made me wanna cry..! I agree, reading that made me feel so depressed. I hate to see Billie feeling like that. He shouldn't have to compare this album to American Idiot, he'll just over analyze everything and the album will fall short of both his expectations and ours.To be honest I did cry after reading that. I mean, for all we know the band might be going through really tough times right now. I really hate to say it, but I started to wonder if this might be the beginning of the end for Green Day.I hope I'm wrong.

No, it's not the beginning of the end of Green Day. It's a songwriter in the process of putting together an album. Get a grip.

Fuzz
You guys really need to get real. You're reading way too much into that tiny little article. No, it's not the beginning of the end of Green Day. It's a songwriter in the process of putting together an album. Get a grip.it's amazing how much people read into these, and how badly they get it wrong.i keep seeing comments on GDA about how people are sad that he seems depressed or how this looks bad for Green Day. Someone wisely left a comment saying that the same sort of thing happened between nimrod. and Warning. Some article came out with Billie saying they weren't sure what they were working toward, and 6 months later they announced Warning. It all comes into play in due time. Green Day doesn't need to rush to put out an album just because fans are getting bored. They'll put one out when they're happy with what they've got, even if it takes a while to get to that point. Greenday_Aussie
Oh jesus. Not another Warning sounding album. Dont get me wrong, I love the album (some songs are too Beatle-ish tho) but for christs sake, sing about masturbation, beatin someone up something punky again, who gives a fuck what age you are, what matters is there still punk hearted. We need another 1,039/Smoothed Out Hours...Going to Pasalaque FTW!
