I'll swim against the tide here and say I'm not all excited about this.

It's given me a weird feeling.

I hope I'm wrong, though, and that the album turns out to be amazing and not too far away.

Sorry for Disappearing, I had to go to work, but wanted to give a brief description of the article before I went. I doubt the album will actually be on piano. I remember Mike saying somewhere that alot of their material has always been written on acoustic guitar, in fact I believe one of them he was referring to was American Idiot, and that album has a huge guitar sound so lets hope the new one will too!

:rolleyes

I think it is after all .....Green Day! It will be amazing when it comes to them and when it comes to us .

I rest assured in the Genius of Billie Joe, Mike and Tre.

I think once they get the feel for what is REAL ....it will be an Amazing Trip ..Happy Green Day's to you !

No complaining here ..though I am anxious...I wont stop believing in the Best Band on the planet !

I think our boy is overthinking things too much. Going to make himself crazy.

Yeah, I agree.

My guess is it will be like Nimrod. They way he's describing everything is like he was describing things during the creation of Nimrod

45 songs to me is 45 songs completed, recorded for demos and being practiced daily

so why he said stagnant? about poems (lyrics)?

No one here is inside Billie Joe's mind. Please stop asking questions only he can answer.

I highly doubt that Billie has been doing nothing more than writing music. when he says 45 songs I should imagine he means pretty much complete songs with lyrics. he probably has loads more ideas that just haven`t turned into full songs. all he needs is to find some kind of inspiration that will link enough songs he really likes into an album.

I'm agreeing with Netty here, maybe they have so much varied material that they aren't sure which direction its going to take, and maybe he thinks he can't quite link it all together, but i have to ask why does it have to take a specific direction tho Billie? If you're happy with something put it out, stay true to yourself 'fuck em all' If you're happy with it end of. If you're not happy with it then give it time, there's no rush, just cos we're a bunch of impatient bastards :D

*note, im not talking directly to the man just say what im thinking*

Stagnation is what happens when water stops flowing and just sits there getting foul. I think what he's saying is pretty clear, and even in what he's describing here, he's poetic and vivid.

like I said, Billie is looking for something that will bring the album together properly. either a similar theme, sound or feeling that will make the album gel better. otherwise it will just be an album of random songs. we heard ages ago that it was looking like being one of three sounds. maybe it just hasnt worked out as well as they would like yet. whatever the reason, they have got to be happy with it themselves before it is released. its not a case of working to please fans, but to be able to say "this is the album we have written and we are damned proud of it!"

First I got happy because there was some news about the album but at the same time I saw a picture of Billie sitting lonely by the piano. :(

If they got 45 songs why not use them? And why is Billie talking about middel-age? You are in the middle-age when you are 40 not 35. Haven't Billie said that he don't want to grow up?

I don't want to here a song on the next album about being in the middle-age.

I don't understand how people are feeling excited, reading that article made me wanna cry..!

I think that piano is only for demos, i don't know...

I don't want to wait for another year, i'm sick of waiting -_______-

This is just my thinking, I'm not saying it is so, but this is what I'm afraid of:

Green Day overdid the American Idiot thing, went all BIG, BIGGER than ever...doing bigger things with bigger bands like U2.

I'm afraid it ruined the Green Day that I know and love. Billie wants to make an even better album this time, but instead of making a great album, he/they might ruin the thing that makes Green Day brilliant: making the best music, songs out of a guitar, a bass and a drumset. I'm afraid they're gonna produce music that just isn't Green Day. And if it is so, I would rather see "Green Day" come to an end. I would rather see Billie as a solo artist, rather than making Green Day turn into something, in my opinion, they just not are. I know you guys probably don't like NOFX, or at least many of you, but I like the way NOFX has grown during the last 20 years. They make the "same" music, but their agenda is alot more serious than before. Billie should do what he does best, making good punk rock music. I really don't feel that Green Day fits to be a band among U2. It might be because I don't like U2 that much, but I always felt that Green Day were down to earth kinda people. Not superstars hanging out with "the rich and famous". Simple music is the best music. Dookie was the perfect album in my opinion. Once again, this is just my personal feelings, and after being a Green Day fan the last 15 years, please respect my opinions.

exactly, this is what I think.

Here in Spain I have read in a magazine a few months ago, that they will release their next album in december or at the beginning of 2008, so now I think it's wrong. I'm disappointed :pinch:

It might be more than a year. By then I'll be in college, without access to a green day concert.

personally, while i'm sad to think we may have to wait I'd rather have billie sit and work out something he's proud to put out there than to do the production line typa albums from the artists releasing crap every 6months... *shrugs* but maybe that's just me...

I think he/she was saying that they could visualise him sat at a piano looking forlorn.

I think you take things far too literally.
