I simply fail to understand how, it is not GLARINGLY obvious that that is exactly what they are being! If I was in their shoes I'd have done exactly the same:

Darfur = cause which is desperate for money ESPECIALLY with the rainy season about the happen

American Idol = massively popular, huge audience

The most punk rock thing a band with the history that Green Day have had is to go on that pathetic show and get what THEY need out of it. It's a massive "fuck you" - we're better than you and we'll show you how to do it too.

i'm so use to seeing billie jump around the stage and seeing the heartgranade on the drum kit...

that was actually a really good performance. they did it for the publicity and thats pretty clear. regardless if green day are against shows like american idol, its for a damm good cause. and we should show more respect for bands like green day who are willing to go out and show support for such things.

-It's a live preformance (since there last live preformance was in Dec.)

-They seemed as if they enjoyed it

-It was American Idol

-The show could of been better

I nearly screamed when I saw them on the TV. I didn't know that they were going to be on American Idol, so when they "magically appeared" i started jumping around!!!!! Although, I had to stop because I was going to miss the performance if I didn't, lol!

Ditto, but I think there was a lot of energy. Every Green Day performance I've seen has had some sort of energy. But if you say that there wasn't enough energy, well, there's only so much energy you can put into a John Lennon song, especially that one.

As for people with the "What happened to those smartass punks" remarks (and I know they're out there), They ARE going into a more serious mode. I don't think their WHOLE next album will be like that, but I mean come on, Billie Joe is 35 years old, he can't be a teenaged punk forever.
