Green Day On American Idol

Whydoyouwanthim!! Oh my god your location:

Okay so at the W&M show, Bob was loading the equipment with the crew (because he's just a nice guy) and I was the only one who noticed, but I didn't say anything, and just casually got closer and closer... but then he saw me and ran :(.

But Frank did write my tattoo, and he hugged the shit out of me, which was awesome, and that's my story:

My Chemical Romance is my guilty pleasure. I'm 22 years old, and I hate pop music and I don't care if that makes me a hypocrite, I like what I like, and I like me some Bob Bryar and Frank Iero.

Is it just me, or did Billie look like he didn't want to be on American Idol? LOL

I hope he didn't. Other than to promote awareness for the Darfur Campaign of course.

I'm not just "not mad" that they went on, I think it was one of the most subversive things they've ever done. Both the cause, and even more so, the contents of the lyrics were like a bomb thrown into the fatuousness and tacky glitz of American Idol.

Uh, looks like I'm the only one...

in the way of subversive things they do a great thing

i wish the next album could be alot of subversive lirycs again :P

subversive things ruleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

I don't think anyone is mad they went on, but only because of the cause.

I just think some are more accepting of it than others. Its not like any of us hate Green Day just because of it.

Some seem to act like any questioning of a band = a horrible fan.

I dont mind people questioning it. But seriously any one with half a brain knows green day holds true to their beliefs. There was and underlying reason they did this.

The other think that is so irritating is people feel that something Green Day said 18 years ago has to be the law they live by for the rest of their lives.

I just dont think some people understand that as you get older sometimes your views and opinions on things change. As one matures in age, things are seen in a different light than they were before.

Honestly they have never done anything but hold true to their beliefs. What they did tonight was proof of that. Its just unfortunate that some fans are unable to see that. They put what they think is the Green Day punk/non sell out law and they hold onto it for dear life.

If I was not already married, I would offer :(. I think we agree on so many levels, though I'm not particularly annoyed by it. It just makes me want to let people know how it *really* is so that they understand where Green Day are coming from.

These words came out of Billie's own beautiful mouth:

Just because you sing songs about a certain feeling doesn't mean you have to go feeling that way forever. You can sing about that for the rest of your life, but that doesn't mean things aren't going to change in your own life.

Just adding my 2 cents here...

Definately didn't know they were going to be on tonight, and my family is an INSANE american idol freak, so I sat down and watched it with them. No idea they were going to be on (That's what I get for not paying attention to GDA...).

They were pretty good, but I hate that damn Lennon song, sorry, but it's crap. I was just damn glad that they are finally doing something again. Nearly tore the head of my dad when I realized that they were actually ON the Stage.....

Pretty good. Pretty good. Glad I recorded the whole thing... :eyebrows: I know what I'll be doing tomorrow.

Thanks for thinking of offering.  I am married too, and I think younger people need to understand that what you believe now may not be exactly what you believed back in the day. People change. :)

See? Thank you so much Sanah.

Those three video leaks are from the idiot club. They're raw footage that was filmed for the video. The video is released on the 29th, I believe, on TRL which I will not be watching. That's what GDA is reporting anyhow.

I have to admit that I wasn't happy when I found out they were going to be on, but then I relized that it would be the perfect place for them to get that song and message out there. Like mentioned before this, under any other contex it wouldn't have worked, but still I would have supported them. I think they kicked everyones asses and that it was very brave of them. They seemed very out of place, and thats a good thing, that means that nothing has changed. Plus it was awsome to see Working Class Hero live, I can't complain-they always come through.

Thats what I'm saying. I think everyone is OK with being on there, but only because of the cause. Everyone that I've seen complain has made the distinction. But even with that distinction, some people still think those fans are somehow less of a fan for expressing that, or expressing any other shred of doubt at all. To me, they have stayed true to their beliefs, for the most part, and all I was saying is that if they went on the show, outside of their promotion for the awareness and help in Darfur, I would have a problem with it.
