Here it is:

33.Dookie

Album sales:10,300,00 Release Date: February 1994

Green Day were the band that made melodic punk rock a commerial force once again, and Dookie sits just behind (Nirvana's) Nevermind in terms of sales and influence. The album is cleanly produced by Rob Cavallo and has a very simple formula: Loud, snotty, catchy three-minute punk pop anthems delivered with a sneer and a smile.

Singer, guitarist and songwriter Billie Joe Armstrong proved to have a great gift for writing a yearning melody and sings about experiences that his young audience could relate to. There is adolescent boredom('burnout', longview'), teenage rebellion ('having a blast'), messy relationships ('pulling teeth'), and smoking pot ('basket case'). Musically, Green day are entirely indebted to the likes of The Buzzcocks and The Jam, with flashes of ska ('when I come around') thrown in for good measure.

Dookie rode in on the massive success of first single 'Longview', which may not have made much of an impact on the Billboard charts, but was granted massive exposure on mainstream rock radio and MTV, as were subsequent singles 'Basket case' and 'When I come around'. The album itself reached number two on the Billboard album chart, and took the grammy award for best alternative music performance in 1995.

I won't bother you with the details of the album, because, a. I really can't be bothered, and, b.You all probably know them anyway.
