but i'd just love to see a little more of a nod towards the people who have put them where they are.

They put themselves where they are.

That's one way of looking at it. Another way is that if it wasn't for us buying their music, they'd still be playing in some garage somewhere.

But they'd still likely be playing, and thats what it comes down to. They'd likely still be a band even if they didn't make it big. The main thing us, the fans can be given credit for is getting them popular enough to help resurrect a failing record company on the verge of being shut down in Reprise

"I mean, is it really so much to ask for them to release more than one album in SEVEN years? "

THREE albums: AI, Warning, Shenanigans, and International Superhits(compilation).

I love that they do so much more than other bands. They're good people, they cna save the world and make great music. It is not their jobs to please us, they're musicians who write and compose for themselves.

We all would like a new album that is even better than AI, but don't you think you're being a tad bit selfish by telling them to do "their jobs" for your benefit? They're not your servants.

They would be doing exactly that and they would be happy about it. : )

They dont owe any of us jack shit.

As i said before, if they make something that isnt up to their perfectionism, we will see a new NETWORK album instead of Green Day.

Personally, I'd rather they take a long time to put out a really good album than do it more quickly and put out a so-so album. I also admire their efforts on behalf of worthy causes and don't mind them using their time in this way.

I'm a huge Green Day fan and have been so since Dookie came out also. I'm chomping at the bit for the new album, but I'm not really at all "annoyed" by the other mini-projects that the group members have taken part in. They've always taken their music and its production seriously and they've always valued their fans and I'm quite sure that they still do.

I'm just getting a little ticked off by the continual bitching from some fans (not meaning you, Newham), saying things like, "They should stop doing anything except working on the next album!"

Grow up--Green Day has.

they released Warning in 2000, so that's 2 album in 7 years. it is a bit long to wait yeh, but awesome albums take time :)

True. And plus, they're doing a lot of covers lately. Personally, after this cover of Working Class Hero, I'd hope they go back to recording their own material!

But yes, I will be a bit bugged if their new album doesn't come out within two years.

I'm totally hungry for a new Green Day album but with 'Saints' and 'Working Class Hero' at least we're hearing them still. It's not like total silence from them and we get absolutely nothing. We've gotten 2 wonderful songs with all the class and brilliance that Green Day possess, so I'm happy with that. The album will come when it comes.

Oh, and regarding the thing that Green Day would just be a garage band without us, well we'd be the losers if that had happened because we would have been the ones that would have missed out on all their wonderful music. I don't think I could imagine my life without Green Day :( So, I'll wait for as long as it takes and when they release their new music I'll love it as much as all their other albums. Guaranteed!

Could you possible be a more stereotypically American teenage girl?

Anyway, quoting people, debating a point, making your own points... Isn't that the point of a forum princess?

And as for 'not knowing shit', i was following Green Day before you were out of 'diapers' honey.

Dear Newham:

You are my new favourite member.

You going to offer an argument or just leave it at whatever that's supposed to be?

you can't say it's "technically" better. it's your opinion. by your reasoning, "technically", muse sounds like someone yawning into a fan.

I think the same Maribel: if they were 'just' a garage band, poor of us :whistling:

Im hungry for the new album, yeah, but sometimes I think if people have nothing to do instead be there counting how many years, months and days they are out  .....to me, they are working on it in some way, all the time because their music is their life, so whatever they are doing, they are working to the new album for sure

.....and please, they have a lot of good songs to help us to spend our time while we don't have nothing new to listen :) plus Saints and Working..

Yeah, totally true Pat. I think of them as working on their album in some way all the time, too. I'm sure they go to the studio most days and work on things and add bits and pieces, planning and creating, so one day we can listen to their amazing new album!

I think I'll go now and listen to Working Class Hero..... (goes off singing: Working class hero is something to be ...)

It's a good line, isn't it? Instead of hanging around waiting for someone else to do what they do, go find something to be.

They have a LOT of albums, so I don't think they're not working hard enough- Green Day has always been dedicated to music, but you can't expect them to leave their kids and wives just to please us.

Green Day does a lot for their fans, but they don't owe us. If Green Day did everything for the sihes of their fans, they wouldn't be Green Day anymore.

American Idiot was released in 2004, but the hype about it lasted til midway 2006. At least, that's what I think.

Somebody said it here too, Linkin Park's last album was in 2003. but green Day is doing things for the world, charity, etc... to be honest, Linkin Park did a lot just for themselves :/

So quit your whining, Gd doesn't owe you or anyone of us. We owe them some spare time.

I think it's settled.

While you have your opinions, people have their opinions too. And while Green Day can't please EVERY SINGLE FREAKING ONE of their fans, they do their best. In my opinion, they are enjoying themselves.

Also, in my opinion, any fan that listens to Green Day and expects more from them because they OWE you, isn't quite such a fan, even if they have listened and followed them longer than a "15 year old American girl" has been in diapers.

I believe they are as UN-fans as those who stop being fans because they "sold out".

(Which incedentily, I'm 15 and American. I hate America. I would love to live in England.)

ALL FANS ARE CREATED EQUAL!!!!!!!!!!

I want a new Green Day album to come out just as much as everybody else, but I want it to be something they have put everything into- It needs to be inspired and passsionate like all their other albums. And for the whole thing about them just being rock stars who need to just do their job is completely ridiculous because if you are even a Green Day fan you know that the stuff they sing about means something to them and you should know that they do want to make a difference in the world. I think that it is amazing that that are willing to put music out about important issues, while also going out and taking action. They should take as much time as they need to come out with the best album they can make. And for the people that think that Green Day owes their fans that is stupid. They write for themselves not for anyone else. Yea they want people to connect with their music, think about what they have to say, and make changes in the world, but they have to write for them. If they wrote music to please people they would not be Green Day anymore. And I do not know how the rest of you feel, but if anyone owes somebody, I feel like I owe Green Day.

You may not be a princess, but you're still obnoxious.

And you are a typical American teenager, like so whatever.

Ps. Before it goes down the typical route. You will find that it was 'her' that began with the insults.
