I think people's interests are branching while we wait. But loyal fans are just that, loyal.

I put up that poll knowing that the majority would say no. But i am interested to see how many people say yes, that they are losing interest. I think it's inevitable that some people move on. I think it's a bit silly how many GD fans moved over to MCR, but whatever. It seems that a lot of people start obsessing over a band just to have some common thread with other people they get along with. And hopefully, because they actually like the music too.

But, it's also annoying how many of these small little clashes happen here between MCR and Green Day fans. I don't know how it seems like a good idea to start up an argument on a Green Day forum that another band is better.

I dont think GD are losing fans to other shit I mean, "youthful punk bands" I think they're gaining fans like that because critics and such are comparing GD to all those other bands. it makes me sick actually. I dont want GD to be compared to MCR or Fall Out Boy *gag* They're not the same and I dont want bands like Fall Out Boy to be anywhere near GD. ew ew ew

I couldn't agree more

Well ,I'm almost 14 now.I 've been a Green Day fan for around 3 years. I don't care much about people 'getting over' the band. It's true that a lot of people are not into Green Day anymore.90% of them found other bands who they will 'like'.No offense to anyone here.

I think that people who are true Green Day fans (I don't really know why there 's such label 'a true fan' ) should care less about Green Day losing fans. Some of them will come back when Green Day have a new album ,there are going to be new fans and so one. To me ,the important thing is that I won't forget Green Day and I'll keep listening to their music no matter what happens.

The thing that is bugging me is that in my school people love saying that Green Day will die soon and that there are going to be other bands so I have to hurry with choosing which band I'll like in the future. Yes ,there' s something wrong with the people here but ... what can I do?

P.S. I don't like My Chemical Romance ,Fall Out Boy and Panic! At The Disco  Don't kill me ,please.

PUNK IS DEAD. And has been for the last 25 years.

The only GD fans 'we' are losing are the ones who loved AI, but don't have a fucking clue what 'Dookie', 'Nimrod' or 'Kerplunk' are. They aren't real fans, and I for one would be glad to see the back of these 'fans'.

And the vast majority of people don't only follow one band, then switch. Most people like a load of bands, and follow them all, some more than others.

I suppose it happens that very young Green Day fans would move onto other young punk bands, I guess. I suppose they relate to them better. It kind of always seemed weird to me when 11, 12, 13 year olds were lusting after 34 year old men (Billie, Mike & Tre). Creepy! They probably still like the music, but they just move on to the up and coming, or popular bands of the time. The die hard fans don't stray, and the ones that grew up with Green Day ... well, I suppose some move onto other bands.

I think Green Day will always be loved. They're just that type of band, even when they're not "the hottest band", and they'll always be an inspiration to the young "punk" bands who look up to them. Green Day are a staple in punk music. They ARE punk. True punk. Always will be.

True

I'm not straying,to get me to stop listening to

Green Day you have to fuck up my hearing and then

I can't guarentee that I'll stop even in death I'll find

some way to hear their music :D Nope you can't shake

me,I'm staying put

I think real fans doesn't. For me a Green Day fannatic, is who love them from that moment to their death. So, real fans doesn't lose interest.

The Poll that GDA posted got me thinking how many fans are Green Day losing to the more youthfull punk bands like My Chemical Romance.Fall Out Boy,Panic at the Disco,HIM,that have big hits out at the moment.

Its MCR, FOB, P@TD, and HIM aren't really punk bands but oh well. Its probably because people think their cool and because they are the new "trend".

Punk isn't dead. And Green Day isn't punk. And I'm not saying I don't like Green Day cause I do, I just don't think they're punk.

MCR - cool but not punk

Fall Out Boy - pop (only FOB that isn't pop is the pre-Cork Tree songs)

Panic At the Disco - pop

HIM - goth rock/ alt. metal

I'm 12. I've like Green Day since I was 9-10ish.

My first Cd was Dookie.

When I first got their cd, I didn't even know what they really look like nor did I care.

I just like their music.

I don't really care if I ever meet them or not.

If I do, it would be nice, but it's not a priority.

And that's right, MCR, Fall Out Boy, etc aren't punk just because they wear eyeliner adn trendy and stuff.

and I don't really think Green Day is punk, maybe just a little.

To be perfectly honest, I can't even begin to understand how someone could go from Green Day to MCR, Panic, FOB and all these new bands. Personally, i can't stand those bands but hey, i respect other people's musical taste so i'll just shut up about it.

I think people might be a little less interested in GD nowadays cause everyone's a bit tired of listening to them, especially after the AI era. But true fans stay loyal to the band and i'm sure most people here are anxious to hear the new album. I know i am! :)

i think its ok to like these other bands that come along, but if you suddenly ditch GD just because another band came along then you were never really a TRUE fan in the first place, there a 2 bands that a really important in my life Green day and Guns N Roses, and to give you an example of what i mean, Guns N Roses have been working on an album that they plan to release this year for 13 years, yes 13 years with no new material, but i'm still there being a No 1 fan just the same as i would with Green day if god forbid the same ever happend to them. A true fan IMO is there to the end. Where as bands that i just "like" come and go on my ipod 2 bands will be there till it breaks down :)
