so whats Green Day? breakfast?

i still don't get why you can't be a 'true' Green Day fan, and like other bands more.

just because they aren't your number one 'i'm so obsessed with them' band doesn't mean you aren't a true fan. it just means you know more music than Green Day.

they aren't loosing fans.

from what people are saying in this thread, it looks like fans are just loosing brains.

Yeah, I know what you mean.

*sighs*

Haha. Exactly what I was thinking. HIM's good, though. Nowhere near as good as Green Day, though.

Sure, a couple people are losing interest in Green Day, but only the people who only liked one or two of their hits off of American Idiot.

yea your are right him is very good but not as good as Green Day

gd is my favorite band now and forever but i have to hear other

bands aswell and that i like some gothic rock bands dosent mean

that i loose interest on Green day or punk i am a punk of heart

I had an internet friend who used to be obsessed with GD, and then turned MCR. Unforgivable

DOWN WITH MODERN TEENIE BOPPER MUSIC

WTF??

its people like you who are obnoxius pricks,

if your friend is fucking obsessed with MCR, then she is, you cant change it.

and so what if she was obsessed with GD before hand, allow her to expirience a variety of music.

the more variety you have the better

Green Day writes meaningful songs... even if its about sex and drugs...

MCR... writes shitty death songs... I mean they're obviously imitating Green Day!!

how are they imitating them if they write completely different songs, like you JUST said?

people don't realize that being a green day fan doesn't mean they have to be your FAVORITE band. i consider myself a green day fan even though they're not my favorite band anymore.

"We" ... in this board topic depends on the goddamn person who is posting.

"We" are not losing green day to anyone. "We" are liking whatever "we" want to like.

Some people like these "youthfull punk bands" and some people don't. The world (if that is what you meant by "we") is not 'losing' green day. They are just listening to something else that they like. It's not a blasphemy to green day in any way.

If these people didn't like green day, I don't understand why they would be here in the first place. And besides, as soon as green day comes out with new material, people will be coming in masses.

No.

Fall Out Boy and My Chemical Romance are a different type of music to Green Day, but they are all, essentially, guitar driven rock bands.

I really dislike MCR, and FallOutBoy are fine, but not hugely my thing at the minute. For some people though, its easy to see, if you're a Green Day fan, then maybe Fall Out Boy is the next logical step? We're not losing fans, the fans are just enjoying lots of music.

My opinion is that if we're losing fans, it's to the opposite of what you're saying. Green Day turned me onto Rancid, and the Clash, which turned me onto the Dead Kennedys, Millions of Dead Cops, Bad Brains. For a long time I was way more interestd in these groups than Green Day, just because they were fresh to me, I hadn't heard it. Green Day are, and have been since I picked up Dookie aged eleven, my favourite band of all time. If they're getting people into other music, that's a good thing surely?

i don't see Green Day singing about death. how can that be imitating?

that made no sense.

no we are not.

just because Green Day fans like newer punk bands doesnt mean they don't like Green Day.

it's time for this thread to go. every possible answer, on and off topic, has been said and it's just getting redundant now.
