i would not worry about it because i am sure thise bands will not be around as long as green day and if they r not TURE fans of green day if they stop likeing them for some other band. i am not saying that f.o.b and p!atd and mrc r not good bands but green day is better and always will be!

i think its ok to like these other bands that come along, but if you suddenly ditch GD just because another band came along then you were never really a TRUE fan in the first place, there a 2 bands that a really important in my life Green day and Guns N Roses, and to give you an example of what i mean, Guns N Roses have been working on an album that they plan to release this year for 13 years, yes 13 years with no new material, but i'm still there being a No 1 fan just the same as i would with Green day if god forbid the same ever happend to them. A true fan IMO is there to the end. Where as bands that i just "like" come and go on my ipod 2 bands will be there till it breaks down :)

I'm pretty sure I wouldn't wait on a 13 year haitus. Most people wouldn't. That being said, I do like some bands that are broke up or dead, but only the music.

When bands take long-ass breaks and then reunite, it almost always sucks. Green Day got super lucky and had 2 extremely successful albums 10 years apart.

I think it's a bit silly how many GD fans moved over to MCR, but whatever.

the way you put it, it sounds like there are 2 sides: The Good Side (GD), and the Bad Side (MCR). its like people are going over to the bad side.

i don't think anyone who liked GD before, then found MCR hasn't stopped liking GD, they just found something more believable to them.

Anytime I see or hear Green Day it gives me warm fuzzies. It makes me smile.

And I don't like any of those bands... they have unoriginality plastered across their foreheads.

Because a concept album that disses the government and talks about some dude who likes drugs is really fucking original, right?

You called MCR "The Bad Side" yet have them in your avatar.

believable?

I'm confused about what you mean. Suddenly Green Day are ~liars~? or what?

^^ i know, but i meant by the way Andres had them in his post.

he said that everyone moved from GD over to MCR, it just sounded like he was putting them as the bad guys, which he kind of was.

believable?

no, they aren't liars.

i just meant something more that they see. something different, more real to them.

I know exactly what Laura is trying to say.

I don't think GD has lost it's fans. teenies yes but they still have fans. They are just waiting for when GD come back with their new album.

so, you're saying it's easier for some people to relate to songs about vampires and blood and army outfits and pale makeup than it is to relate to songs about some kid who's a druggie and falls in love?

If you (as in whoever is reading this) became the last GD fan in the world, wouldn't you still like their music? If you all want to step up and say "Green Day aren't sellouts, their music is good" then step up and say "I don't give a fuck if MCR or FOB sells more CDs then GD, and I don't give a fuck who likes Green Day."

i think he is saying that

the kid who is on drugs and falls in love is something easy to identify in many ways...

I think people who where fans and only new AI (or teenies) now like the other band of the moment, wich Green Day used to be, and the bands of the moment now are those on the first post. I think it's very sad to jump from trend to trend :/ no problem with liking new bands, but just stop liking one cuz they;re not on the radio every 5 min and start liking the one that is, is just and airhead

A lot of MCR's songs about vampires, death, etc... are poetic messages on their views on society. It's very relatable if you are smart enough to interpret lyrics

^ thank you.

yes, because those aren't what the songs are about. thats the image everyone sees. but its not what the songs are about, and thats what counts, the music.

its the message of the songs thats whats the most relatable.

relating to a druggie who falls in love can be relatable, too. it just depends on who you are.

this thread is turning into an MCR/GD thread again, isn't it? :/

Not real fans.

i agree...

but those arent punk bands.

i don't think anyone who liked GD before, then found MCR hasn't stopped liking GD, they just found something more believable to them.

i like MCR (they're #3 on my list of top bands (but not their last album)... GD is #1 of course), but they are definately not more beleivable than green day. that's kind of what i like about them though, they dont always have songs about real stuff.

I still GD's music. I wouldn't care if I was the last GD fan. I don't care how many cd's they sell or how popular they can get. All that matters to me is their music. Same goes for MCR.

It's just right now I have discovered other bands that are just as great or even better.

I don't care who likes them or not. It's my opinion that only matters.

I don't think green day's losing fans, maybe kids are waiting for the new album and while theyre waiting theyre listnening to panic! or fall out boy or mcr, whatever and they still like green day.

But if they ARE losing fans then it's because those fans where never green day fans but fans of American Idiot, fans of the album.. not green day fans.. and if they (billie, tre, mike) have marked your life, like what happened to me.. then you'll be a fan forever, i am a fan, i listen to other bands as well, right now im just waiting for the new album but meanwhile ive discovered there are also many good bands out there and im just listening to them, yes im fan of new bands now, but i love green day, and theyre still my favourite band.

I just think it's amusing how pretty much every band is 'punk' now.

like all you have to do is put on some eyeliner and you're not 'emo', you're punk.

whatever.

lol...true true.

MCR is a good band, but if the so-called 'fans' are 'moving on' to other bands from Green Day, were they really fans to begin with? I think they treated GD like a 'fad'.

I mean I love MCR, but i LOVE Green Day. lol....i confuse myself.=)

like every one has been saying, MCR doesnt have a lable..they arent punk, emo,hXc or anthing....they are just a , and quote, 'a ROCK band.', and unquote. Yeah.....spammage.

I totally agree.
