I just think it's amusing how pretty much every band is 'punk' now.

like all you have to do is put on some eyeliner and you're not 'emo', you're punk.

whatever.

Actually I agree I think Punk has become way to civil what happened, there becoming like punk boy bands.

MCR are big everywhere. England, Australia, America...all the same. Btw, My Chem don't have a label, they hate that kinda stuff. I recall Mikey saying in an interview, "They can call us r&b, we don't care" or something.

I suppose it happens that very young Green Day fans would move onto other young punk bands, I guess. I suppose they relate to them better. It kind of always seemed weird to me when 11, 12, 13 year olds were lusting after 34 year old men (Billie, Mike & Tre). Creepy! They probably still like the music, but they just move on to the up and coming, or popular bands of the time. The die hard fans don't stray, and the ones that grew up with Green Day ... well, I suppose some move onto other bands.

I think Green Day will always be loved. They're just that type of band, even when they're not "the hottest band", and they'll always be an inspiration to the young "punk" bands who look up to them. Green Day are a staple in punk music. They ARE punk. True punk. Always will be.

well green day hasn't done anything in a few years now so they're not losing any fans. we're just waiting.

I dont think we losing them at all, I see fans all the time with GD hoodies on, but MCR seem to be the big band at the moment, as soon as GD new album comes out it think it will be a big deal, considering the attention American Idoit made.

But punk seems to be getting tame :/ :

Excuse me, I'm 10, & I think I'm the best example of boredom you can get. I'm not bored of them, just moved on for a while. I listen to Green Day loads. :)

Gotta love Mikey.

Indeed. Even though he never smiles.

They're not big here.

Almost everywhere then.

idk, even though I was like 12 when I got into them, I still like them. Though admittedly I strayed away for a year or so, but I still came back. What can I say, I'm attached.

and I'm not really waiting for any new stuff, not if it's going to be like AI. I'm content to just listen to my Warning cd on repeat.

young people become older and most likely will start liking other bands, it's just natural.

green day will always have fans, i wouldn't worry about that :D
