^How's Maria political?

Lyrics have some political overtones. Fighting power and other less powerful institutions.

It depends on the politics. If you mean National Politics or Personal Poltiics. If you mean Personal, than pretty much all of their songs. If you mean National, then Holiday, American Idiot, Desensitized and Minority

Hmmm... I'd have to say that "Minority," "Holiday," and "American Idiot" are probably their most politically geared songs...

But I had to agree with the last post that it all has to do with whether you want Nationally Political songs or Personally Political...

I don't know if it's really politically relevant, but no one's mentioned Maria.

Greenday's songs about politics are light weight tho.

sure they arent 'you gotta die for your government, thats shit' but they arent lightweight. hell i dont even think theres a lightweight version of political songs..either youir up front and telling it how it is or you arent saying it at all..

Society and media are political subjects. Anything that broadly affects society and and is within the bounds of government to affect through legislation or influence is political.

I always loved Macy's Day Parade. It's pretty but also kinda depressing if you listen to the lyrics.

But I think Jesus of Suburbia is pretty political. The whole 'City of the Damned' part just seems very powerful to me because I looked up the lyrics to the song right around the time my school screened 'Invisible Children'. "City of the Damned/lost children with dirty faces today/no one really seems to care"

How is Minority political?

"I wanna be the minority

I don't need your authority

Down with the moral majority

Cause I wanna be the minority"

That whole chorus is political. Not very much lyrical effort, but still political.

American Idiot (the title rulez)

In some ways JOS

Holiday

Minority

Warning

and favorite son)

And you are all forgetting one of the most political songs they have: Letterbomb.

Someone would have mentioned it by now I would have guessed.

Greenday's songs about politics are light weight tho.

Kittenslayer do you like Leftover Crack?
