They're just being kids. I'm sure they don't really idolize them in that respect. If they do, then yes, that's unhealthy, but mostly it's just joking around.

No, I don't quite agree with you on part of what you said, Havoc. You see, I also think their older music is amazing. It's more the kind of music that I personally can relate to. But, with American Idiot, I think Green Day was the perfect band to write that kind of music; to make that big switchover. I don't agree with you when you said their lyrics aren't that great in AI; in fact, everytime I listen to those songs I get chills down my spine. The words they use are so forceful and inventive and true. Green Day wrote that album because they believed in something, and they put it into their songs. That album tells a story--it's literally a book in the form of 13 different songs. I've always been the kind of person to read between the lines, and if you read between the lines of AI, it tells a hell of a bigger story that makes such a huge statement that it cannot be ignored. It's too meaningful.

So where did Green Day go? They went to hell and back, and are much better for it.
