Marie_GD
This just came in:British rocker NOEL GALLAGHER has defended his outspoken views on life - and believes its better for celebrities to speak out than stay silent. The WONDERWALL rocker is notorious for his opinionated rants, and his recent targets have included SIR ELTON JOHN, THE BEATLES, SCISSOR SISTERS and GREEN DAY. But Gallagher insists not censoring yourself is much better than being a "no comment" run-of-the-mill celebrity. He says, "I certainly don't censor myself but I know for a fact that most of my peers, before you get to interview them, you are handed a list of what you can and can't ask. Ask me anything, anything, I've got an opinion on most things. "However ill-informed my opinion is, at least I've got one." He's just an ass...I couldn't belive whe he said "However ill-informed my opinion is, at least I've got one." like...if you don't know what your talking about SHUT UP you know???? Get informed THAN say what you really think

They should have hung it up years ago...Sure it's the same tempo, but totally different.I like oasis...But BOBD has the same chord progression as wonderwall... Laura33
Y'know, Oasis used to be a good band, their last album was a flop and the Gallagher Brothers are becoming more known for the people they bitch about then their actual music, give it a rest guys. guitar_falcon
Oasis lovers and Green Day lovers, you had better peace out. There seems to be a lot of discrimination over opinion.

armatageshanks
it's sad when your band has become so irrelevant that you have to take on bands and artists who are much better than you to get attention.really, really sad.
moonlight_girl
I saw it on Vh1 News yesterday eveningHe ,and all the people who charge Green Day about stealing something ,are a bit late. It's been 2 years now ,what were they doing for a such long time?Noel won't be the first and the last person who will say "Hey ,that's mine!"He just wants to people give him some attention. No one will even remember about this after a couple of months. And I agree that it's really sad.... At the time, Oasis was at the height of their popularity and Green Day was not expected to repeat the success of Dookie, a reverse of the current situation. Noel has written some great rock songs, Wonderwall is one of them but I don't see an American Idiot- type renaissance in Oasis' future, while BJ is evolving and getting stronger as a songwriter. I don't agree with either Noel's or Billie's statements. I love the mash-up but never hear Wonderwall when listening to BOBD on it's own. As for watching paint dry, Liam is the antithesis of Billie onstage but can hold an audience with his feet cemented in one spot and a few shakes of the tambourine and not many rockstars can do that. justcause
Billie didn't censor himself in the Limo interview when he said "Oasis was like watching paint dry." At the time, Oasis was at the height of their popularity and Green Day was not expected to repeat the success of Dookie, a reverse of the current situation. Noel has written some great rock songs, Wonderwall is one of them but I don't see an American Idiot- type renaissance in Oasis' future, while BJ is evolving and getting stronger as a songwriter. As for watching paint dry, Liam is the antithesis of Billie onstage but can hold an audience with his feet cemented in one spot and a few shakes of the tambourine and not many rockstars can do that. What's interesting about that is that Billie Joe doesn't tend to diss other bands anymore, despite the fact that interviewers have often tried to provoke him into some of his old jabs. It's natural for someone to resent the fact that other people are more successful at the time than you are, when you have the belief that what you've got is much better, and that's where Noel is coming from with what he said. Oasis are yesterday's news, Green Day are front page, and the fact that they are has gotten some front page for Noel with his remarks, so maybe he should feel he's gotten some payback. As you say, whatever similarities Noel perceives between the two songs, no-one is gonna mistake one for the other; both are personal statements from two different minds, about different things. If he had more confidence in his own undoubted ability as a songwriter, he'd be letting his music do the talking, and letting the people who hear it decide what they like. Fuck, they will anyway, no matter what he says!
Totally obsessed
Oh please. I like Oasis and they're a good band...but come on, it's just fucking sad :/ I mean, yes BOBD has the same chords and stuff but does he really think BJ sat down turned on Wonderwall, tabbed it out and then just threw in his own lyrics? The songs sound completely different and have different meanings so why the hell should he care? Green Day are an American punk band, Oasis are an English Indie band and there's a long gap between when the songs were written. And it's not like he's never nicked riffs from other songs... in fact he's done it quite a few times... as have many other artists. Why can't he just shut up, stop attention seeking, and bascially just stop acting like a fucking baby

*Jade_Green_Day*
Oasis couldn't bother to tell the world that Green Day 'stole' their song when Boulevard of broken Dreams actually came out?? They're just desperate for some press if you ask me....Well, who got to do a charity song with U2 recently? Jealous

nessa1416
have you people ever thought that there may be a pattern here? It's not a sudden "everyone hates Green Day" thing, it was gradual and people have a right to vent, I don't think Noel jumped on any bandwagon with the slagging off, have you ever thought that instead of sticking up for Green Day straight away/ maybe you should read, or listen to the people that are "hating" and concentrate on the fact that they could well have a point...or is that too much to ask?Oh yeah, I totally agree with you. As I said, Green Day very well could have ripped off Oasis, no one but the band can tell us that. Then there's Brandon Flowers remarks on how if Green Day were so punk, they shouldv'e gotten kids to sing American Idiot outside of the White House instead of in England, and to be perfectly honest, I think he's got a point. mbk
What's interesting about that is that Billie Joe doesn't tend to diss other bands anymore, despite the fact that interviewers have often tried to provoke him into some of his old jabs.Billie Joe's jabs at other bands have always been kind of funny, like he was just trying to wake them up from being too timid and making themselves lame by playing it too safe. I tink my favorite is "rock and roll bands are pussies" (not an excat quote maybe). I don't think her ever made himself look like a whiner by accusing someone else of ripping him off. His attitude has always been "I pity the bands who have to try to follow us."
chickin'pickin'
oasis are a bunch of pricks, they made ONE good song, and it WASN'T wonderwall.Get over yourselves guys, and support the good team from manchester.

Light My Fire
is it just me or is it a trend to say Green Day copied someone or something?just because one band said something alone those lines doesn't make it a trend, especially since it's coming from liam gallagher. dblsweetness08
oddly enough, GD and oasis are two of my favorite bands. Noel is kinda right here, BOBD is pretty muchwonderwall with different lyrics. I don't think he should judge the rest of the bands songs for this. And also he's not the one to talk about obrrowing chord progressions, and he only admits it when he';s asked. No one's ever asked GD about the wonderwall/bobd thing. I love oasis dearly, and I love GD. This is just Noel's style, thats all. GD dissed oasis once back in the day, said their set was like watching paint dry; so it's kinda fair game. I still love both bands. And just because a band says something shitty dosen't make them suck. Oasis have several great albums, including their latest one, and countless great songs. So don't hate against hate guys, seriously. And BTW 'WMUWSE' sounds exactly like 'Rocking Chair' by Oasis too, but I think thats just a coinsidence.
