Green Day has 3 albums worth of new material

I don't see the problem with Green Day releasing a double album then. They are having enough of time in between. Stop doing all of the fucking side shit, and work on the new album that was really supposed to be ou by the end of this year, which now I highly doubt.

Agree

yes, I went back and reread the article so I realize it isn't going to be another American Idiot, but that's good to know anyway.

for me is hard to choose

all of the albums have some meaning on my life

Same.

I think the new album will be awesome and that they've never made a bad record, so the new one will be great too

When they did Insomniac they had heaps and heaps of songs, fourteen got on the record.

It's just how it works. Most of the time, about a third of what you've got gets on the CD.

Three albums worth of material doesn't mean three top quality albums worth of material.

And to follow up American Idiot, although they've been in the game long enough to have the sense not to bother about what the garbage media is saying, they're not going to want to release anything less than top quality. Ten years under American Idiot's shadow? Not fun.

Absolutely right!

Same, can't wait for the new album. But it's NME, so take it with a pinch of salt, 'cuz a lot of what they say is complete bullshit.

true.....but the fact that Billie himself actually told NME about the material, and that tey have quotes to support the article would mean that it is true. But I agree, NME does often elaborate things so that they appear so much more far fetched than they really are :pinch:

For some reason I can't really imagine myself sitting down and listening to their new album, and all the excitement of buying it on the first day its released and not knowing what to expect.....I mean, for the years that I've been listening to them each time they release an album, I can't imagine hearing more new stuff.....if that makes sense? Don't get me wrong, I'm totally looking forward to it though.

I think it's because each of their albums go to a new place - it's never 'more of the same', or just a collection of songs, it's the feeling that goes with it.

Yeah. I'm actually scared in case I don't like it. I'm sure I will, but I really want to like it because Green Day are my favourite band. Know what I mean? It was like that when I bought Warning. I thought 'Oh God, this is shit, what have you done?' but now I reckon it's some of their best stuff!

So don't let us down guys!

I think 2008 is a pretty good date for a new GD album.

And yeah, I don't think GD wants to be under AI's shadow any longer. Kinda like how they wanted to get our of Dookie's shadow.

Whenever the new album comes out, the 'Working Class Hero" single is a pretty good indicator that they're still themselves, while continuing to improve their sound. Billie's voice sounds awesome and the guitar sound is still kickass. Can't wait for the new album.

Someone might have said this already, but is there a possibility of Green Day releasing a double album? We can only hope!

Or maybe rather than a double album... two albums released close together similar to how Guns n' Roses did with Use your illusion 1&2... that might be good maybe keep them a mounth or so apart...

They probably wouldn't do it but I think it'd be awesome if they released a three-CD album, at once, three CDs in the case as one album. Each CD is one of the three directions they mentioned considering taking the next album in. One experimental sounds, one straight up punk songs, and one a Rock Opera. Or maybe have the whole thing be a rock opera but one CD is a collision of several genres of music while the other two are mostly punk/experimental.

Jus sounds like it would be something cool.

Or like System of A Down, Mezmerize/Hypnotize. They could release one at first, release the other 6 months later or something.

I would like to see some of the more classic attitude of Green day on there... and i do hope they haven't gone too political... a little is great and american idiot captured that beautifully however i hope it hasnt gone overboard... but i have faith in them they are an amazing band and will know what they are doing...
