Todapus
Oh wow, this sounds awesome! Personally, I think they did a great job on American Idiot but shouldnt do another story themed record. I would love it if it was half punk rock and half the experimental ones that they were talking about in the article, but I think anything they do should be great! I have a feeling we still have to wait quite awhile though...
Guillaume
Like Pixelman04, I think they will take some songs in the tree albums to make one very great. I don't think they will make a new story album, they have always change for every album they made. But I'm so exited about what the album will be, but it the first real new about it so I think it will be many other in the next months!
netty
I cant see them mixing the three ideas to be honest. there wont be the, erm, how can I put it? all the songs need to fit together. mixing totally different sounds would just ruin it. and just because the previous albums have been different from one another doesnt mean that they cant do another "story based" album because they are obviously thinking about it and it wouldnt have to sound the same as AI. people are assuming that if its a "story" that it will be AI mark II. it could be totally different sound wise though. I`m certainly thinking it will be 12 months minimum. something around that. from that article, they need to get some distance from AI..... and even if they arent going to have that much to do with the movie, will they be able to get enough distance from it? Shuden
I hope they dont just do one sound for the album- because in my opinion the "best written album" is NIMROD because it has a bunch of different sounds and has all of the layers of Green Day. They said they now have three sounds, so i really hope they do all of them on one album maybe a little longer (like Nimrod) but it would be soo sweet. They said they have some weird sounding stuff some american idiot type stuff and some good ole punk stuff- i just hope they put all of those sounds on this album. WOWWhos exited? greenday519
Myself. And I think then somebody else here... I hope then this album be better than American Idiot. In my opinion, Old Green Day are better, but that Apparently doesn't mean then the New Green Day are bad , As netty said, 12 months are like the limit for then the new album came out. Someone can correct me If I'm wrong.

But I agree that if they want it to conform to their original vision, it couldn't be completely out of their thoughts - there'd be consultation and back-and-forth shit. If that happens, it would be something of an energy-drag as concerns anything new.
netty
so you want an album that has punk songs mixed with acid driven songs and some country thrown in as well? maybe they could do that, but there would have to be some kind of consistancy to it. it reads to me like they themselves are looking at three totally different ideas and they would have to do a radical rethink to mix them up. or find something to like the album together properly. I do see them mixing the three ideas, they could end up doing something like sandinista!, but not only from the musical point of view; also the format you know 36 songs , with very different type of songs, The Clash were able to do it, why wouldn't Green Day be able to? Parley
Well, they say patience is a virtue, so I guess we'll all be pretty virtuous before the new album is in our hands.

TotalBasketCase13
Great article. All the album ideas they have in mind sound like they'll be amazing once released. I'm just really hoping for a fall/winter 2007 date, if not a tad bit sooner.
NickD
IMO, the fact that they've already spoken about the new album more than the standard: "yeah, we're doin' one" thing means it's far off, sure, but not as far as we're thinking.Sure they said that there's no time-table on it, and such, but if you remember (you don't really need to, as some retard posted one of the articals on page...5?) the last time we had an artical similar to this it was only a 9 month wait to the album, and they were roughly in the same spot, studio-wise. This time, it seems as if they are a little further behind than the last, but still roughly the same area. That is, unless they end up scrapping these three albums they have in demos now...I also think that if it was coming out in 2008, they wouldn't have told us now. They, in the past told us about an album when it was far off, yes, we've estabolished that, but not so far off you need to wait for the new calendar to come out, just to find the correct month, again this is aside them "scrapping" the Cigarettes and Valentines album. Shuden
The doors have so many different genres in all of their albums and songs and i think if the doors could pull it off then green day could too.
woahinez
I'm just hoping it doesn't take too long. Sure I can wait, I'll try to be a patient person. I'm hoping for fall/Winter 2007, if not earlier.

They are both amazing bands; it would be fucking awesome if Green Day had a new concept for their music... it would be so Green Day if they took them all together and smashed it into one. caskin8a
im just hoping for some stuff that sounds like Haushinka off Nimrod. Or Chump off Dookie. Something like that.I can play and sing every second of AI and most other albums, and you just know these guys are amazing. We all sorta know whatever they release will be awesome.Wouldnt mind if they went straight back to their punk rock roots just for a bit thoGo on GD.
