e-dur
I think everybody has heard their names in a way and somehow. For example : I don't watch MTV or VIVA or stuff like that, but I've still realized the whole media hype about AI.I first listened to their music in 1992 with Kerplunk, but haven't been in pursuit of their career for years. Then they published AI and I was totally shocked about their development. I once had known them as a punk band and suddendly, they were a rock band with lots of squealing teenies around them, MTV-mainstream stuff and dressed in pinstripe suits. (If you've followed their career closely for years, maybe you aren't able to see the big difference between GD in the past and their image today, but there is a difference as big as the Mount Everest between these years. )I try to be honest, I really love their music, but when I was reading that they're doing stuff like the Idiot Club and that they did a diet before their AI-Tour, when I was looking at that bullshit of merchandising with their faces on it, I was wondering, what had happend to them. :/

Ultimo3000
Yeah, that made me realize: How come there's so many damn people in this forum that love Green Day, yet it's near impossible to find someone else that likes them?!

ImnotaDrIjustPlayOneOnTV
Thats how it goes though, when something is extremely cool, people hop on the bandwagon (example when AI came out). These people at the time thought they were special because they jumped to the conclusion they had discovered something no one else knew about. Then they realized everybody else liked them too, so they didnt feel so unique anymore. So to feel better about themselves they decide to try the opposite, to diss on them. Thus again making them jump on another bandwagon. These people are shallow asses. Those of us are that are true fans don't need them hangin around anyway. I think it 'll happen again when the next album comes out, thats my prediction.

But, they don't know what is good music, so..that's why they don't like them. They just like horrible music.
clusterbomb
people hated them until american idiot, then they all grew mowhawks and were all saying ''this album is so punk'' and then the very same people all of a sudden have silly emo fringes & lip peircings and say 'american idiot sucks, its too pop fr me'' most people in my school who ''hate'' green day now and love the unseen etc. didnt have a clue about punk until they bought american idiot and researched into green day and their influences and favourite bands etc.people are stupid. Kleptomaniac
they are a popular KNOWN band but if I was to take a poll at school then most people would say no to "do you like green day?"
greenday keeps me breathing
when the "popular" guys at my school started to like green day, they all came to me and i explained the whole band to them and everything. and then they made green day popular, but forgot about them and are now obbsessed with skiing and stupid stuff like that (no offense to skiers).if i was to take a poll at my school about if people liked Green Day or not, most people would probably say no and say something like "oh, wasn't that the band that did AI? that was a great first album!" and they wonder why i try to avoid them?
