zoki
oh my good god, im starteing to not like what they are turning into..What exactly are they turning into. This isn't going to effect them musically as a band. It will however effect millions of young minds. They aren't doing anything horrible by lending their name to a good cause. There is nothing to be lost. Aside from that gaping hole in the ozone. Stop putting restrictions on them as humans. They aren't just a band. Supermodel*Robot
I think that it's fine that they want to make a difference, but they way their doing it seems fake.I mean you could tell Billie was reading off a teleprompter (or whatever its called) and that the words coming out of TRe's mouth were not his. Tre is uncapable of being so calm. And the "every day is a green day" was pretty weak. I LOVE GREEN DAY, dont get me wrong. But this really isn't something they would do. I can see them wanting to make a difference, but i dont think that they're doing it thier way.
SusantheMartian
doing it this way is alot mor than what alot of other bands can say. they can say they want to fight the bush administration and our oil addiction, but green day are actually doing something. what do you want, another album about how our gov't is corrupt? i think we got a good idea from the last one. green all the way
voicing your opinion and taking a stand on what you believe in. actually doing something other than bitch is selling out? you guys listen to too much pop music. if you've ever heard of protest rock, real punk, and anything of substance, they actually have something to say other than breaking up and zits. Bob Dylan once said, that at one time when a musician came on to the scene, they were asked, has he or she have something to say? what does this song say? what does it mean? now they are just suppose to "shut-up and sing." green all the way
with that said, don't blindly follow. do your own research. just because a politian, star, teacher, etc... says so, doesn't make it so. they are human and can be wrong. I just hope they don't act all, I'm better than you.I just watched on PBS that there's a tiger park in India without any tigers in it. I would laugh if it weren't so sad. The Doctor
"Oilll.. we're addicted to oilllll..."LOL! It's great they're doing this. But I thought they were with Green Peace, not NRDC (which I shamefully haven't heard of...)?
GreenDay.Gal
i think itz great that Green Day are supporting this. i agree, people have more things to do in life than save the environment and that not everyone is going to buy a hybrid car but still, they are speaking out for something that cannot speak out for itself. we, as humans, are probably the most selfish of all species on this planet. we aren't just endangering it for ourself but evey thing else. humans will find a way to live through the climate changes but then all of our animal and plant species will eventually die out, causeing humans to slowly die out too. i know that this is in the far future but still, we should all take a small step into saving the envorinment. greenplaidsocks
this whole concept is pretty great. but the whole letter the the president is a bit much if you ask me. i mean, i guess you can attempt, but what are the chances of bush actually even bothering with them? people probobly write shit to him all the time, and i doubt he gets any of them. its like writing to some big snobby famous person and whatnot. maybe im being a bit pessimistic, but bush isnt gonna read some letters from some people and be enlightened. these ideas have probobly been brought to his attention dozens of times. its easier to feed the oil addiction than to stop it. it reminds me of a smoker. its easier for them to keep buying cigs than to quit entirely. i do believe that the environment can be saved though. not through letters to the head honcho, but with unity. it seems hard but i know we could if we tried. we need more protests and riots and things. maybe just a simple flyer here and there. recycle pretty much everything you can. my school recycles paper, and so i bring my used paper from home and dump it in the recycle bins at school. i salvage all the paper i use. i keep a shoe box in my room for recycled paper to take to school, theirs recycle bins in almost every class. theres not much i can do, im only a sophomore in high school, you cant do much at that age. but you can recycle and spread the word. i try to tell people about recycling and things, i try to spread the word. i think thats a start.sorry for writing so much. got carried away.. stjimmysgirl221
if its something that they believe in and care about of course they want others to help their cause so why not use their celebrity status for a good cause
billiejoeiskingofpunkrock
I dont know why anyone would be angry that Green Day is supporting a good cause. I could see if it was something heavily political (which, if they believed in it, they'd probably still do it), but this is a organization which is trying to better people's lives by helping the enviroment. There are a handful of causes where it's good to bring in the celebrity attention to, and this is one. I know i never paid any attention to the NRDC before I heard Green Day was getting involved with it, so what better way to get a certain part of society to pay attention, than by getting people who can motivate others to do good.WOW! You would be a good public speaker Andres! But yeah I agree. I think this idea is awesome.
Annie.
They're staring in an internet commercial.I dont know, it's just this whole thing makes me feel uncomfortable.Their job is to make music, not to preach.Just because you're a musician doesn't mean you can't care. I mean, believe it or not, people listen when their idols have something to say - and isn't getting the most attention you can get to get the message to people the most important thing??Some people are just finding any excuse to point out that the band is 'selling out'.What if GD do care? Ever considered that? Besides, music and poilitics have always been closely related. Don't try to stop it now.
sainttw
Many arent gonna like to hear this but Bush has done a lot more than people would expect and to me that proves many things. When he come out and openly says that we are addicted to oil he tells the world and all big oil companies that things need to change. This is huge, I offent think people dont grasp the signifigance. The fact is that Bush has openly supported looking for alternatives andcutting baxk on our addiction but this is where congress needs to step up. Were in Iraq, and we are receiving no oil. So why dont we all gather together to win this war and then help Iraq use there oil for the good, and at the same time work on alternatives. Also did you knwo that in the case of an emergency we can become energy self sufficent. I stress the fact that it would be in an emergency, but if such an instance were to arise digging in Alaska would make us self sufficent.
