Brandon Flowers criticises Green Day

I think it's one of those things that's like over their heads. Like Brandon totally missed the hype/the point of the album and BIAB. They played the same setlist in every other country, including the US as far as I can recall. I would argue more but I don't want to waste my energy trying to point out how ignorant he sounds.

Guest Mike's Secret Admirer

Brandon Flowers comes off to me as a really aggressive person. I've always kinda liked The Killers' music, and I can't change my opinion based on someone else's, but I don't see why Flowers (what the HELL kind of last name is that?) should have to blame them for something that doesn't really make sense. He's not American, and he should just keep his mouth shut. As soon as I got to the point where he thought it was offensive, I was thinking, "Go fuck yourself, Brandon Flowers".

I'm not going to take a stab at Flowers or The Killers, since I still think their music is okay, but I don't think it's right to have to do this to Green Day.

But think - the way Flowers said this, it's like he has to find something wrong with another band and start something controversial...right? This reminds me of the "rivalry" between Blink 182 and Green Day. It never REALLY existed (or DID it?).

All in all, to make a long story short...Flowers just needs to shut his mouth and mind his own business. Let me know if my post comes off as confusing to all you guys :P

Brandon Flowers has a history of criticising other musicians in order to get publicity, so no big surprise there.... Its a shame his MASSIVE EGO gets in the way of his OK music. Also, he's totally wrong- GD played potentially difficult Rednecksville dates as well as the UK etc, and the whole AI project was risky for GD - don't really see the Killers taking anything like a similar risk. The MKeynes 2 dayer was always gonna be a highlight (I was there and it was awesome) - have also seen The Killers live, and as good as they were, they just aren't in the same league. Not going to get into a slanging match because there really is NO CONTEST!! GET OVER IT!!!

PS Also, please don't assume that brit audience didn't understand the significance of American Idiot- lots of us are totally clued up on the meanings in the song, and the reasons for writing it in the first place - remember we have a dumbed down media too, and there are plenty of English Idiots out there too!! :)

^^ i think everyone else has taken the words outta my mouth. I think Brandon Flowers :bored: is being petty and trying to 'pick a fight', as it were. I know thats totally the wrong phrase to use, but you get what im saying. When he said;

"To go to a place like England or Germany and sing that song - those kids aren't taking it the same way that he meant it. And he [billie Joe Armstrong] knew it."

i was so pissed off with Bradon-fucking-oooh-look-at-me-i-have-a-shit-moustache-and-a-salmon-pink-coat-which-i-like-totally-adore-cause-im-fucking-gay! Flowers. I thought it was damn harsh and no need to say that 'Billie knew those kids weren't taking it the same way that he meant it'. :verymad:

Isn't this, like, the second time he's spoken out against Green Day? Sure, I don't find anything wrong with people saying their opinions on Green Day as everyone is entitled to thier own opinion etc, but when it's Fuckdon Flowers and his lame excuse of an 'opinion', one of which he has conjured up just 'cause he wanted something to say against them. Whether its jelousy or whatever, i think he needs to go and have a good wank and a bedtime story in bed. And learn how to write proper songs with meaning. Now me and one of my friends who is a big Killers fan are gonna be debating over this for forever. Urgh, Brandon, keep your fucking mouth shut- you just cause arguments! Im not impressed with the half naked woman on their album cover picture....oh, sorry, i mean the album art. On second thoughts, maybe he should wank off to it.

Does anyone realize that everytime someone becomes famous, or their song(s) become(s) popular, that Brandon always has a problem with it? I mean, when Panic! At the Disco's song "I Write Sins, Not Tragedies" got massive airplay, Here comes little Mr. Flowers, "OH I DON'T LIKE PANIC! THEY DON'T MAKE GOOD MUSIC!" And then he goes and apologize for that? I mean COME ON! American Idiot came out TWO YEARS AGO. Bullet In a Bible came out almost A YEAR AGO. And now that Green Day is becoming even more of a household name than they were before and are the biggest band of the last two years, why do you think he's now saying things like that? Just for attention because his band isn't as popular as they used to be; they were only known for "Hot Fuss," which, in my opinion, sucked. And so does their new album. So, you see, folks, Brandon Flowers just wants his fifteen minutes of fame. No one should care about what people think about Green Day, or any of your favorite bands. And I mean come on, BRANDON FLOWERS??? Are you serious??? I'm pretty sure Green Day doesn't, so you don't have to.b

Bradon Flowers (what the fuck kind of name is that anyways?) is just jealous that The Killers aren't as talented as Green Day, and because he sucks at singing live.

Just sent this to a moderator on the killers fansite cos their very popular thread on the subject got closed after being overun by killers fans supporting Green Day.

Green Day v The Killers.

Why close a thread which still has so much interest? I put it to you that you are scared of all the negativity that this subject has provoked and so you should be.IMO the killers are not yet big enough to alienate so many loyal Green Day fans. Green Day releasing American Idiot has actually done a lot for the world opinion of Americans. We all already thought you were a bunch of Bush regime brainwashed arrogant idiots. Post American idiot we realise now that not 100% of Americans fall into this category. The Brits understand the song American Idiot because we're well read and are able to form our own opinions. We make it our business to follow American politics because we've been dragged into an illegal war by your hair brained president. Green Day filmed Bullet in a Bible here because of the mutual appreciation of these facts. Scared I don't think so. We're now asking ourselves what do the killers stand for, what are their politics, do I want to associate myself with such a band? The answer for me is most definitely NO! Shame Hot Fuss was good.

great letter

What you said about what GD and AI did for none Americans is headson, very well said.

It is ridiculous that brandon was saying how they just did biab in england because billie knew the people there didn't know what i tmeant. More people in England probably understood it better than most american teenagers do. It also made me mad how he was saying that playing american idiot was an insult to american and stufff, all green day was doing was having the concert of their lives.
